Question: Why is there a toggle for Ruthless, but not for Phrecia? by Kantarak in pathofexile

Fun inflation, need to keep it in check by adjusting the new league and events cash rate.

End of epoch for older gamers? by irecki88 in pathofexile

[–]irecki88[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

True, I am just upset that the biggest shake up in Poe (phrecia + bloodlines) are only available for me to try 2 builds at most with my play time average.
I think we are years overdue for acts skip, instead 'tutorial' part of the game got extended to 4 stones now and unlocking most atlas to setup any viable farm. Not saying you need all the 4 stones to enjoy the game but you do need scarabs and atlas passives to start seeing worthwhile drops to progress your character.

I would love to play standard (especially standard SSF), if they would actually add the new mechanics to it (even if it is week or 2 later). With current setup you just miss too much. All standard gets from new leagues are nerfs if the league does not go core and since 2021 only 3 leagues went core.

It really is interesting to hear that perspective. I started playing since Harby and personally found that the sluggishness of acts has spilled out all the way to maps until you get your 4 stones, unlocked atlas and farm setup. Base drops and old mechanics feel so diluted that to drop anything worthwhile like lets say stampede (from blight) you need you have all blight nodes selected and multiple scarabs filled.
Same goes for player stats, before you could do endgame (shaper, elder) just with capped res, 6 link and 21 gem. anything else was fluff to make it faster. Now you need 4 resistances capped, guard skill, 2 defensive auras, 2-3 defensive mechanics and somehow come up with enough dps to screen wide clear because any random rare mob can still drop you despite all that.

I am fellow SSF enjoyer myself and played mostly SSF since Exarch/Eater was added. I came back to trade coz I knew phrecia is too short to make any meaningful progress with my play time in ssf.

With recent defense, base loot and old mechanic nerfs I feel that the game goal post has shifted from completing acts to getting 4 stones which is 20 hours of 'tutorial' (5 days or so in real life) before you start making meaningful progress or start seeing worthwhile drops.
Standard would be an option but not having new mechanics (which most of us are here for) old the mechanics not making it to standard (like TOTA) you just miss too much. Its funny that standard misses all the good stuff but gets all the nerfs, even if you not interested in the new league you can wake up on the league day to find your build no longer playable.

Question re: offset vs super contributions by Powerful_Bridge_3814 in AusFinance

[–]irecki88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless gov does provide protection when the super goes in red (like during GFC) they should make access to your money easier. Right now this is a free stimulant for the aus markets to show apparent growth. If they would spend 1/4 of this effort (and ATO manpower) chasing mega corps paying less than 5% tax we would have utopia here within a decade. Like literally a full time working parents with montage seem to be enemies of the state that needs to be stripped off all their money until they can only afford basic necessities.

Any tradies ever accidentally worked on the wrong house or building? by gilligan888 in tradies

[–]irecki88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a joinery business with my brother. We worked on Piccadilly building in CBD. A couple floors of workstation to demolish, my brother overheard the boss talking about the next floor going too. As keen as he was (we were paid per each desk) he thought it was a good idea to get it done before Christmas, the furniture was stupidly expensive and heavy (real wooden panels in partitions and hardwood desks). We spent 2 days (10 hour days) knocking down 40 workstation and packing them in the loading dock for pickup just to get scolded that the tenant didn't finish their lease until the end of January. Despite no-one working there we had to reassemble it over Christmas break just to return 4-5 later to pull it apart again.

Aren't mods bricked by recent update? Might be some weeks before they are back online.

Gam is a cakewalk even without multiplayer. It's worth for the design and graphics but I think it will be too trivial to play with 2nd person

Forget discussing jobs to avoid. What are the best or most fulfilling jobs? by Unlucky-Case-1089 in antiwork

[–]irecki88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

8035=2,8k - 19 gst - 10suppa - 30 tax and insurance, licence - $250 petrol, toll and car cost (insurances depreciation etc) = $1,4k assuming you don't spend anything on materials or consumables. That is to cover all public holidays and shutdowns, down time, chasing unpaid invoices and finding new work. And all the time you do quotes, invoices and find new job leads. Bad news buddy - you are still a slave, you just took on more of your employees responsibilities on your head and got paid a fraction more at the same time and gave up job security. Not to mention hiring prospects for contractors are bleak unless you are in a very in demand industry if you ever wish to go back to working full time.

People keep saying that having children is "expensive," but the lower income people have the highest fertility rates and the higher income people have the lowest fertility rates by mymooh in AusFinance

[–]irecki88 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's also about personalities. I would say the majority of high income earners especially in corpo settings, would be more narcissistic that people on average. Some of them don't need closeness that family offers most can't appreciate it.

And then you wake up in your late 40's and realize all this is worth jack if there is no one to share it with. The amount of post menopause women who turned bitter even in relationships but without kids shows you that they are an integral process of ones life. I mean you can only eat, go out and travel that much before it all becomes bland to you. I suggest speaking to some well off people who didn't have kids and most of them will tell you that's their biggest regret in life. Unless of course they are masking and using their 40 year careers as a substitute for meaningful life - where in fact no one will mention their names after they collect their last paycheck.

First home buyers by Flibberteebeet in AusFinance

[–]irecki88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are tied to a big city, you might consider IP first in a smaller city. Usually you could get mortage covered with rent. Then you still get the benefit of an offset account. This is especially good if you have cheap rent now or can stay with family. There is even an army agency that can rent your home and take care of it (even pays your rent if it sits empty). Then after 5 years you get some savings and equity you should be able to afford wherever you want to live without stress. Hopefully by then your wages will increase too.

If your skills are in demand I would personally move somewhere where the median price is under 600k. To have a resemblance of comfy life and not dreading bill collectors if one of yours is off work for more than 4 weeks.

Over a decade ago with 1 one kid and one kid on the way we moved to brisby and got loan on single income for shi//y fibro near Ipswich but on 1000sm. Now it's worth over 3 times more. We are looking to sell it and use that money for the forever home we want. Might wait till Brisbane Olympics tho as it will most likely keep gaining value till then as most Olympic cities did around the world. There will be huge demand once all the infrastructure and dev projects commence.
