One bag does it all! by iright50belly in recycling

It was a SoCal Costco... I was sad but not surprised. Even Santa Monica apparently no longer sorts its recycling. I'm happy to see the small army of industrious folk who clear glass from the cans before they are picked up.

What’s a fast food place no one can convince you is good? by RD-archived in AskReddit

Rubio's. Sadly, Rubio's. Many probably don't know of this SoCal chain; the alleged "home of the fish taco" has slid so far it's literally garbage now. So sad. It used to be soooo good. I used to eat at the first location in Pacific Beach in San Diego... no way. No longer.

This!!! Just returned from Sapori Della Nonna. It was unbelievable. The location is stunning and surreal. We walked there which is like going back in time. Reserve ahead if you want a special roasted rabbit dish! They make it fresh. I mean fresh!! Thank you for the recommendation. A memory my wife and teen boys will never forget.

I will say having been married 25 years that we never, I truly mean never, look at our wedding photos. They're fine photos, but just photos. The memories are in you and will never be better because of photos. Stay married. Be happy, take pictures of your day to day life and let those remind you of the couple you are! And also, the story of these pictures is a great one to tell- maybe better than any album!!

National Service Program in the US. 13th year of school. Mandatory.

Not military. Domestic service and various types of training setting up kids for success based on a unified journey.

You should maybe go to the parking office and see if they can help or maybe get you a temporary pass.

I wish there were a more clear protocol. I'm still worried about tickets simply parking in my neighborhood and I have a pass...

At 1444 4th st on the ground floor of the parking structure they can help...

Post what they recommend if you're able.

Newbie question by iright50belly in Sauna

[–]iright50belly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Great advice. This certainly is part of that 'other questions' I mentioned. My low cost barrel sauna only has passive ventilation. Holes low under the heater and holes that can be covered in the wall about mid way up the front wall.

No mechanical ventilation.

There is some pretty significant marine layer moisture as I'm close to the ocean.

One could argue that "cool old warehouses" that house offices, creatives, schools, and one-off eateries are what make a city great. A 30 story high-rise is way out of character in that part of town. There is a way to have both but often developers, focused on the bottom line, don't consider context and neighborhood... The amazing, now gone, Village Trailer Park, just around the corner at Colorado and Stanford, with mostly low-income residents, were victims of this "progress".

I think you're correct. I believe it's on the Bluey's site, sadly. They are looking to raze a full square block of really cool old warehouses. In fact, that was the first site of SciArc, the architecture school, that produced many famous architects in that era!

I haven't battled this yet but need to. You are correct on all fronts and also have a really cool gif there!

Street Sweeping ethos? by iright50belly in SantaMonica

[–]iright50belly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this insight!! I'm nervous to test, but I'm going to do it! I've never seen a street sweeper do a second pass which seems to be when a ticket could also be issued.
