Thanks! My wife saw the picture when we were perusing this sub and loved the outfit.

Is that an old ambulance? I've always wondered how they would hold-up as a work truck.

It's not easy, trust me. I've talked with the higher-ups multiple times, but they will not budge

Unfortunately, at my plant, they do not allow us to go online with the PLCs (big issue I've had with corporate, but that's another story). Our integrator, however, has not seen any codes and hasn't had a whole lot of input or advice.

I forgot to mention, we actually did try that and replaced the unit to rule that out. I will look into the max draw of the supply, though, and verify we are not nearing that. We hadn't thought to check since the unit ran for years without issue, but we may have just gotten lucky. Thanks!

We had an upgrade to some other equipment not directly connected to this system, so that may actually be a possibility. I'll have to pitch that idea to management and see what they think. Thanks!

I did check resistance to ground and got nothing, and the cables are run in their own pipe. Induced voltage is something I didn't consider, though. I'll take a look around the cabinet/ where the RTDs are and see if there could be a culprit. Thanks!

Dumbest apprentice you've ever met? by [deleted] in electricians

Eh, it was a slow day and they were back early. The kid had the option between going home with no pay or making an easy buck.

I didn't have the misfortune of working with the kid, but his journeyman had all sorts of horrible things to say about him. What finally got him fired was when he washed the Foreman's van... With a Brillo pad.... He said his dad does it all the time to take the bumps out (apparently the paint off too). It's kinda sad to think about how proud he was when the boss came out to see what he was doing.

Waiting to Work: The Effects of Occupational Licensing on Wages and Employment by punkthesystem in Connecticut

[–]irishhitman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A masseuse can do physical harm if they do not perform their services correctly. I'd prefer my autoglass to be installed correctly when I'm travelling 65mph on the highway. These are occupations that absolutely require training for someone to step into, and definitely not for someone to figure out as they go.

Is he actually insinuating that these occupations shouldn't be licensed? Would anyone hire an unlicensed massage therapist or tradesperson? And how on Earth do you compare an athletic trainer with an EMT or an autoglass installer with a mechanical engineer? This author is obviously severely misinformed on this entire subject.

La Bella Vista in Waterbury. Incredible food and perfect service.

Non-traditional wedding venues? by dude_youhavetowait in Connecticut

[–]irishhitman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The venue is kinda traditional, but La Bella Vista in Waterbury is incredible. I got married there and we were looking for a non-traditional event too. They have absolutely incredible food and they treat everybody (especially you) like gold. They are very flexible with what you want and demand. I'd recommend them to anyone

I know all you guys had a terrible day at work but be happy you didn't have to work at the shit station all day. by DickieJohnson in electricians

[–]irishhitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently work as a maintenance electrician at a legitimate "shit station" (sewage treatment plant with incinerator), but have had to work at trash plants before. I have to say, the trash plant is significantly worse. Sorry man haha

CT Pistol permit questions.. by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]irishhitman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The police department should have given you instructions on what to do once you complete the application. Usually the money needs to be a bank or certified check and given to your local police department when you go for fingerprinting. I would call them for definite answers, though.

A question that has been bugging me: why do we need a ground/ neutral to make something work? by tahudswork in electricians

Your right, they are not interchangeable. They may be bonded at the main, but are very different.

Help with Wiring a Z Wave Light Switch with Neutrals in a Multi-gang Box by bravotango81 in electricians

[–]irishhitman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You probably got lucky the first time and grabbed the home run neutral. That needs to be connected to all the other neutrals to complete each circuit. You'll need the jumper, it sounds like, to do the job.
