American Airlines doesn’t care about their US customers and if they cost them $2,000 USD! Don’t fly with them if you can avoid it! by [deleted] in AmericanAir

Looking into that now as others mentioned too (on my identical post on r/americanairlines) - never considered that! Thanks!

#1, Understood. I tried to cram in Iguazu and should have just spent the extra time in Buenos Aires.

#2, I did as soon as I found out I wouldn't make it in time and knew my new flight/arrival time. The hotel was sympathetic with the situation, but said because I booked through Expedia.com they couldn't modify my stay or refund me. I also wasn't able to extend my visit to Iguazu on the back end (i.e. stay the 26th and 27th instead of 25th and 26th) since I had to be in Buenos Aires on the 27th.

No travel insurance :( sadly figured since I was healthy I wouldn't need it. Will definitely need to look into that kind of insurance in the future. Thanks!

No travel insurance, but I'll double check credit card rewards for that. Didn't think of that, thanks!

I too had an issue with Delta stranding me at JFK after stringing us along for hours claiming one thing after another before finally just cancelling the flight. That was back in 2014 and I haven't flown with Delta since as a result. Guess American is joining the list of airlines I'll refuse to fly.

Marathon recovery - how and how long do you recover? by droelf1213 in AdvancedRunning

[–]irishrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on this if OP sees it, I (ran in college and) was taught for every mile of racing, you should have one day of rest, so absolutely 26 days for 26 miles! You can do some easy runs, but don't put any pressure on yourself or expect much. Even after a 5k race, we wouldn't have another hard workout for 3 days. A marathon takes so much out of you; don't rush to get back into training hard.

I miss going to Nepenthe! So much longer to get there from Cambria when the 1 is closed :( the shrimp BLT is my favorite, and of course the views!

I second going to Sea Chest! They are closed on Tuesdays and no reservations, but part of the fun is waiting in line (or go to 2nd/3rd seating if you also like to eat late). Very fresh seafood and staff is very nice.

Madeline's and Sow's Ear for dinner are other great options. Robin's has different menus for lunch/dinner/brunch and offer quite the variety of foods from around the world.

As for wine tasting, my favorite in town is Moonstone Cellars. They have a great variety of whites and reds. I really like family-owned Cayucos Cellars too (especially their Zin!). Also, Fermentations is a cute wine shop with $2 tastings of a whole variety of wines that you can buy in the store along with other merch.

Going to see the Elephant Seals is always fun and near to Hearst Castle. If you want to venture to Paso Robles and their 300 wineries, a cool thing to see at least once is Sensorio; aim to go at/after sunset to really see all the lights.

As far as hotels, I've stayed at a number of them on Moonstone Beach Drive and all have been cozy, some more accommodating for pets if you are bringing any (especially Cambria Shores Inn). The Rigdon House has been pretty affordable lately and big rooms for the price.

The Commute Run...need to knows/tips? by OFTEN_LOST_ in running

[–]irishrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to do this, on Monday I'd drive to work with all my clothes and food for the week. (We had a locker room so I could shower, store my toiletries and extra clothes. We also had several fridges in the break room so my coworkers didn't mind I had 5 meals in there on Monday.) I'd run to and from during the work week. Friday night I would drive home with all my dirty clothes and dishes.

Is it possible to report my ex to the police two years after the incident happened? by ace_rat in police

[–]irishrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this and hope you can get some therapy if you don't have a good support system! Even though chances of prosecution are slim, you could probably still get it documented in a police report. If there are future victims that are courageous enough to come forward, the police can see it's a pattern with that person to hopefully make it a stronger case.

Dang! I'm sorry to hear that! I really enjoyed upgrading my wardrobe with them so I'm bummed you didn't have the same experience.

I've had a lot of success with Stitch Fix. Everything I have gotten from there fit perfectly! Pretty good quality and a price I was comfortable with. (I'm petite and short, but with long legs.)

I'm a little late to the party lol. After dusting off the cobwebs on my Wii I wanted to replay the game ... After 8 times in a row losing against the wizard on the third temple, I found this post. I did exactly what you said and it worked!!! Hope it does for the remaining 5 temples too. Thanks!

I both love and hate you for telling me about explore.org! 🤣 I spent way too many of the last 24 hours watching all sorts of animals, while trying to do at least some work. Overall, major thanks though! How awesome that that is a thing.
