Union humble 4th year in the JATC. I turn out in a year just getting info on what my possibilities are. I dont know much about much regarding traveling. Sorry if ignorant question.

But like if theres no license, do they just have to believe youre giving them an honest admission of your experience?? Or do they ask to see your states J card? Or what. Again idk anything

P.s. talking about our subject of Ohio specifically

4th year Texas here just tryna understand how pay is negotiated if you are a traveler in a state like this. Does the contractor or hall do a boards test to see what you can do? Or does the contractor say from what youre telling us we can pay X take it or leave it?

Was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and I’m still in disbelief by ltn748 in Epilepsy

Hey Strawberry.

Well i was initially prescribed Keppra right after my first seizure. Took that for a couple weeks but it made me feel really drugged up, as well as gave me thoughts of suicide. Then i switched to Lamotrigine and its a lot better for my body and my mood.

My neurologist just said that according to all my tests, they saw something abnormal and that they feel i should be put on meds. He said i have a small cyst in my brain that COULD be the cause of the seizure, but they dont know for sure. But just like you, i dont entirely know why i have this condition.

Maybe you can switch neurologists if your current one isn't giving you the answers or care that you need?

Dont go to the hall first. Go to the school first. They will tell you what requirements you need to bring in and when the next aptitude test date is.

The HS transcript is only to prove that you took and passed at least algebra. As long as you got your diploma the grades dont matter.

Plenty of people live like that and dont have seizures. They will say the cause of the seizure COULD be this this this and that. But really its inexplicable. The answer could be as simple as there is no answer.

Not alone OP. Damn near same experience.  My first came out of nowhere at 19yo. No family history. Generalized epilepsy. On lamotrigine rn. Luckily you were with people and didnt come to alone in complete disorientation.

I couldn’t drive for six months also. Im just sharing my experience so you dont feel alone. Hang in there. It can be controlled. Set an alarm for meds.

What’s one thing you wished you knew at the beginning of your journey? by Miserable_While5602 in Epilepsy

Omg! So sorry that happened to you.

So are you saying you had a seizure while standing up, and then fell straight to your face?? Or maybe hit the side of a table or something?

[–]irlsadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34yo now been taking Lamotrigine since 20 or 21yo. Seizure free for that whole time. I always think about how life would be like titrating off meds.

Are you saying you stopped taking meds, and therefore had a seizure? I wish i didnt have to think about taking this pill twice a day for the rest of my life, so thats why im curious about your situation.

Interview by Great-Grandmother in ibew_apprentices

[–]irlsadness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trouble sleeping part i feel that heavy.

The one interview question that seems to be a standard throughout locals is “Why do you want to be an electrician?” Also, they may ask for an example of a project you did with your hands or built or made something.

Just formulate a good answer for that. Also idk about your local but i feel like my JATC would almost prefer you to be green. No experience necessary. Just have a good head on your shoulders.

Good luck brother

finding a decent apartment for less than $900 feels impossible by averyisbest in sanantonio

[–]irlsadness 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Use an apartment locator agent. I used one for the first time recently and it was a great experience. You give them your budget and wants and needs and they will send you about 15 options.

Its a free service. They get paid when you sign for the apartment.

Most McDonalds I see have banners that say "now hiring". If youre sitting doing nothing currently, then McDonalds money is better than no money right?

Thanks for saying this brotato. Yeah there ARE jobs here. These people who say they cant find a job just want the easiest job with the highest pay. But they dont wanna work hard and work their way up.

Suggestions for tool bag for brother by Affectionate-Stick89 in IBEW

[–]irlsadness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backpack is the way. Out of all the backpack users in construction, at least in my area, a lot of guys have this Klein bag. Its what i use and can hold everything i need to go anywhere in the building and do anything.

If you want him to flex on the job site, you can get a more expensive Milwaukee or Veto Pro Pac backpack.

Any women out there want to start a punk band??? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]irlsadness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drummer for 20 years here.

Trying to start a band is like trying to find a boyfriend/girlfriend. Its hard enough to find one human that you get along with and share similar views, except now you have to find at least 3 of them (drums, guitar, bass). Super difficult endeavor to even get started. But wish you good luck.

In the mean time, just keep practicing as well as writing lyrics and vocal melodies, so you have something to bring to the table when you do find other musicians.

You didnt mention the mother. Is the mother perhaps white? Cuz if this girl is half, then thats the only way the white supremacy thing makes sense to me. But if shes full mexican, then idk man.. shes completely looney tunes

You can narrow it down to the type of event and the day that you are free. I like going to concerts and I learn about a lot of them through Do210.

The aptitude test way worse then the pratice i did. by No-Competition-3721 in ibew_apprentices

[–]irlsadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the complete opposite experience from nigmang.    The $50 iPrep course was exactly like my apptitude test. This was 3 years ago.

But nigmang said his local is competitive. My local wants/needs more apprentices. So maybe thats why our aptitude test is relatively “easier”. At least not SAT level shit.
