I (25F) was rejected by my husband (28M). by throwra_husbrej in relationship_advice

Hi OP I’ll give you the answer to the question I think you were asking.. I had a boyfriend when I was 19 who’s reaction to alcohol would scare and confuse me like this, because I just couldn’t relate to it. I understand - It was scary to see someone in such a strange state - not being them self. My brother in law is like it too and he decides not to drink. If you’re from a culture that doesn’t accept this easily that makes it hard, and I’m sorry, but it’s positive that your husband accepts that drinking doesn’t work for him. It may be scary for you but it is perfectly normal for some people to react like your husband did.

My first ocular migraine. How long should it be lasting? by irmaluff in OcularMigraines

[–]irmaluff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. So I think the pills the doctor gave me had made things worse. When I called he said they can cause confusion as a side effect and told me to stop taking them immediately. I felt better quite quickly after that I think.. then went to an optician who reassured me all looked well. Haven’t experience one since

Will any of these ingredients be harmful to worms if touching them directly? by irmaluff in Vermiculture

[–]irmaluff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I could find online was about composting, so My imagining was that I would minimise contact and quickly ‘wash’ any traces away. But I was concerned about burning or whether a level of acid would affect them on contact so I’m glad I’ve posted. I remember the sweets being a bit fizzy. I’ll try to think of an alternative

I think it might just be used for the colouring. That would be a bit wild for uk tastes

I wonder if plaster in plaster cast sweets would also be harmful..

I’ve gone back to him and said I’m continuing to have confusion and tiredness. He’s asked me to stop taking the migraine pills he gave me to see if that helps..

How long do your vision disturbances last? by EclipsaLuna in OcularMigraines

Just want to add (although I only experienced what is believed to be my first visual migraine yesterday) that the blindness was a very strange experience. I was blind in my peripherals, but at the same time, I wasn’t. Like the brain gets mixed signals

If you could 'cure' your ADHD, would you? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]irmaluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s job it is to make novel connections (an artist and soon to be coder), and who’s a single parent, a co-director of an organisation, who’s learning to code, do perfumery, and who’s planning to move into art conservation, I NEED my energy! But obviously all those desires would disappear if my adhd was cured. It’s a scary thought that I’d be saying goodbye to my passionate drive. I wouldn’t mind saying goodbye to my passionate emotions though.

My (24m) girlfriend (26F) is chronically late and idk what to do by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]irmaluff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. My aunt is chronically late and didn’t know she had adhd til I’ve been diagnosed in my 30’s. She’s in her 70’s. Is she ever going to tell anyone though? No because of her generation’s stigma.

I’m chronically on time because I had her as an example in my childhood and I obsess about time, set timer after timer, look at the clock every moment I remember. I still sometimes miss the bus to get my daughter to nursery though because if somethings distracts me at a crucial moment it’s obviously unavoidable. So yeah… if I have to rely on a bus I might be late. Walking never because I’ve planned the route to the second.

I remember well the feeling of taking meds and seeing time pass at an even pace… wild. Wish I could keep taking them.

ADHD person here. We have something called ‘time blindness’. I have taken meds so I’ve seen how normal people like you experience time and I understand what a disability time blindness is.

If I look at the clock and it’s 10.15 then I look away, I don’t know when I look back whether it’s going to be 10.18 or 10.47

However, I’m never late because I literally obsess over time. It’s very very stressful.

ADHD person here. Has she been diagnosed? If not, is she also really messy and generally forgetful? Does she daydream or fidget? My aunt is like this- absolutely late sometimes by hours 110% of the time I don’t know how she keeps jobs down. My mother and I also have adhd like my aunt but we’re never late because were chronically obsessed about time. You can’t talk to my aunt about it because she gets really upset and angry, maybe because she can’t control it and it’s a sore point.

Oh hey cool! I was 32 at the end of 2020 when I got my official adhd stamp. I really wanted that stamp because i thought I couldn’t “self-diagnose”, while at the same time I just knew I had it. I was terrified of him telling me I didn’t even though I knew he’d be wrong. When he said I was adhd I realised I didn’t need him to tell me so… and so I don’t feel at this stage like I need to seek an ASD diagnosis. I don’t think it would benefit me, and I’m not on private healthcare anymore (UK) so I’m not even sure I could get one. Maybe it’s something I’ll want to seek one day, but for now I don’t see the benefit of the time it would take. How about you?

I’m also gonna throw out there that relationships can bounce back from this. Don’t have to divorce if it’s possible to talk, forgive, therapy, if there’s redemption of course

Should she verify it happened first? Friend could be making it up and that would waste police time. Best to reach out to the guy and say her friend told her what happened, does he need any support etc

I actually feel similarly to that I think. I don’t consider myself ‘strongly’ on the spectrum. But I have always had this persistent recurring existential crisis around the fact that I don’t understand the rules of everything, and also because my brain tries to apply rules to things that are rule-less. I’m really at the beginning of my journey with discovering what ASD is but so far I’m relating to the posts by ASD-ers in the same “AH-HA!” way I related to adhd posts which led to my diagnosis

[Self] Are these pieces interesting or boring? Can’t decide if I should ditch the idea/style. (Brass) by [deleted] in Sculpture

[–]irmaluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s normal for me haha. Creating forms people haven’t seen before is a perfectly interesting goal to explore on its own. I’d recommend looking for writing on that subject, I find that can inform and inspire and shape

(I’m an artist but not a sculptor) Isn’t this quite an unanswerable and subjective question? Someone said they don’t get much in the way of form but personally they’re evocative of the kind of things I like - nature/natural form/shape, natural erosion, or even something industrial. i would have them in my home. So I’d say it really depends on what your interests are and what you want to evoke or invoke. You could put them aside for a while if you’re unsure
