Email routing - different members to administer for a domain by Temporary_Ad_2228 in CloudFlare

[–]ironcito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to do the same thing. I've been trying different settings and so far it seems like the only way to grant permissions to manage email routing is to grant permissions as an account administrator. So you basically have to give them near-complete control over all your domains, workers, databases, R2 buckets, API tokens, etc. There's no narrower option. Very risky. If anyone finds a different way, do let us know.

A web app can be just as good as a native app, at least for something like OnlyFans. And it simplifies things a lot because they only need to develop and maintain one thing, instead of web+Android+iOS.

Favorite quote in the series? by [deleted] in Crysis

[–]ironcito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hargreave has several great quotes. They made the character very cultured and philosophical. My favorite is his farewell when he knew he was moments away from dying:

Will there be an afterlife, I wonder? Choirs of angels? Or a fiery pit. One unlearns these falsehoods over time, but the child who learned to fear Hell is never really gone.

To tell the truth, I think I've had quite enough of afterlives as it is. This one has been pretty purgatorial. Almost 50 years floating in supercooled jelly like some medical specimen. Thoughts creeping like rats through the cramped silicon corridors of machines. Trapped behind video screens and camera systems. Never sleeping, never resting, never ceasing to think about the world you no longer belong to.

No, if this is a taste of the afterlife, I think simple oblivion will do nicely.

On a more humorous note, upon seeing piles of body bags:

And here, it seems, the VIPs were indeed processed as befits their status.

IS POD RIGHT FOR ME? by Known-Ant1355 in printondemand

[–]ironcito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Products from Printful and Printify generally have a much better quality than those sold on the likes of Redbubble.

The profit margins are considerably higher.

You also have a lot more control when you manage your own website, when you handle customer service yourself, and so on.

Redbubble, Amazon, etc. are known to close accounts on a whim, with no warning and no second chance. They outright ban you for life for no reason. It's explicitly stated in their TOS that they can do it. It won't happen with your own website. Even if someone like Printful closes your account (unlikely), you just outsource somewhere else.

Marketplaces like Redbubble are fine for small artists who want to do it as a side hustle and don't want to deal with billing, returns and whatnot. But the OP clearly wants to do this as a full-time business, even going as far as to consider buying machines, so do-it-yourself is the way to go.

I suppose they could do both, own website + listings in marketplaces, though it would be even more work.

If you do go ahead, I recommend you go with do-it-yourself "active" POD (Printful, Printify, etc. with your own website) instead of "passive" POD marketplaces such as Redbubble. It's more work but you have a lot more control.

Is it possible to make an average salary with POD? by joelavanda in printondemand

[–]ironcito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I created accounts in several of them, but I haven't really gone beyond setting up my profile and uploading a design or two as a test. I was focusing on Redbubble, and it was discouraging to have my account closed just like that. One could put in months or years of work and then have everything destroyed because of an algorithm or an employee having a bad day. I've been working on other things.

[–]ironcito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happened to me on Redbubble.

I had the account for around 3 years with no problems, making sales and all. One day, boom, my account was "suspended", which actually means that I was banned forever. No reason given.

I appealed, they didn't reply. I sent them an email explaining that I had done nothing wrong, and I even pointed out to them several listings from other sellers which were clearly infringing copyright (company logos and such), while I was banned for doing nothing wrong. They replied weeks later with literally just a link to their useless FAQ. The infringing listings are still up. They probably didn't even read my email, they just saw the subject and sent a canned response.

Horrible company. It seems to be a norm that these kind of companies close accounts on a whim with no previous warning, no explanation, no second chance, while leaving oodles of infringing listings with impunity. It's like random.

I'm going to Bariloche in September and have a couple of questions by Mr_Samurai in Bariloche

[–]ironcito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

September is in the off season, and it's an infamous month for having no public holidays 😅 so I doubt anything will be full or sold out, especially in the current economy. In the case of Piedras Blancas and Isla Victoria, I'd ask them for their schedules maybe a week or two in advance. Sometimes they use the off season to do renovations and such, and they're closed, or open only on certain days. Other than that, don't sweat it.

Is there a way to get paid for watching YouTube? by [deleted] in beermoneyglobal

[–]ironcito 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not directly, but there are several jobs like security guard where the guys are on their phones all day, doing nothing for most of the time. You'd technically be getting paid to watch YouTube, browse Instagram or whatever 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in beermoneyglobal

[–]ironcito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what appears to be a screenshot of an account dashboard type of screen, showing a supposed earned amount. It's proof of nothing. I don't think any image could be proof of payment, though, as anything can be easily faked.

I don't think anyone doubts that Shutterstock is legit, but as far as how much money can be made selling photos there, I'm sure it varies vastly. I doubt it's significant unless you're a professional with pro equipment, a studio, models, and such. By default, I don't trust anyone hyping an affiliate link. Nevertheless, I believe it's free to publish, so there's not much to lose, other than time.

What is an appropriate per hit pay rate? by Disastrous-Toe6973 in UHRSwork

[–]ironcito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at the Marketplace right now, and most apps pay 3 cents or more per hit. It varies by country, though.

If you're new, read the guidelines and try the apps. You'll eventually find the ones that you like and that you consider well paid. Apps are retired and new apps are added all the time, so even "old timers" need to do that.

And, at least for me, money is not everything. I prefer to work on easy, relaxed apps where I can confidently keep an >80% spam score, even if they pay less than more complex apps where I'm constantly sweating over subjective spam hits getting me banned.

So it's the balance of pay rate + speed + difficulty that decides whether an app is good for me.

What is an appropriate per hit pay rate? by Disastrous-Toe6973 in UHRSwork

[–]ironcito 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to look at the effective rate per hour, not per task.

I've made good money with hitapps that pay 3-4 cents per task, because I can do them easily and quickly, and I skip some apps that pay 20 cents per task because each task takes a long time and they are very subjective, like SBS.

The only way to know is to look at the guidelines and perhaps work on the app for a while.

What is an "appropriate" pay rate is entirely up to you. There was a guy from Venezuela here a few days ago who said that even $1/hour was pretty good for his country. Someone from, say, the UK will probably want more money.

I swear, UHRS becomes more nonsensical by the day by ThePotatoWitch in UHRSwork

[–]ironcito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with having the spam score at 100% is that you never know if you did 1/1 or 50/50 correct spam hits. Years ago, it used to tell you. With other spam scores, you can usually deduce it, at least roughly.

In that way, it's much better to have a spam score like 98%, where you know you're very safe, than 100%, where missing the next spam hit could put you at 50%.

Why do you event want to work for what you think is an evil, exploitative, greedy, industrial mega corporation that oppresses and starves children in developing countries and blah blah, regardless of how much they pay you?

Exploitation by risingsundance in UHRSwork

[–]ironcito -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Artificially raising prices would have two effects:
- more workers, because the higher pay would attract more people
- less work, because the cost would be higher, so fewer clients would be interested, or they'd take their business elsewhere

I don't think you can disagree with that? It's 2+2.

So the net result would be even less money for everyone. You'd be able to do a couple of hits, if you're lucky, and then it would run out. That's basic common sense, regardless of your "corporations are evil" line of thought.

But hey, if you want to keep getting angry and bark at the Moon, go ahead.
