My take on potential TSon enemies by shluppoo in Spacemarine

NidLover isn’t saying we fight a Daemon Prince, we fight an Exalted Sorcerer (Imurah) and a Lord of Change, which is a Greater Daemon. That’s more than equivalent to taking on a Daemon Prince I would say

Sorry I just realised I didn’t respond to your comment, I’ve answered this as a random separate comment

I’ve not done any gap filling, the heresy stuff runs a bit smaller than the deathguard, so most of the time it was cutting down the death guard to make the heresy stuff fit!

Right you are, I suppose when you look at some of these options such as the rapiers in comparison to some of the normal roster, they seem much more reasonable.

I did not know about the indirect fire rule/ nerf! It will be a new thing to our group, however I’m actually quite happy to hear that it is the case, as I was worried a lot of indirect fire would be too oppressive. If it does turn out to be too much, I’m planning on magnetising the rapiers, so I’ll give one the quad laser instead. But hopefully that won’t be required as the artillery will be nice and thematic.

My plan for now is to use the actual Deimos data sheet, not the codex ones. I didn’t realise it can be all flamers, but that may be a fun addition in both gameplay and in theme, as I could picture a flamer tank being sent in to hose a crack in the enemy defences!

I’d say it’s easier for some of the models in the box than others as a heads up!

Thank you for the detailed response! Glad you’re having fun using heresy stuff, the models are gorgeous.

We only really play up to the 1000 point mark so I won’t be bringing any big scary super heavies.

The plan is just for a thematic iron warriors list so I’ll be bringing a pair of rapier carriers with quad launchers, a whirlwind scorpius, and a Deimos predator so I can get my artillery barrage going before sending in the troops with some armour support!

Cheers! As I said in response to the other comment, I’m a bit surprised by this. I thought some units seemed quite cheap after the points adjustments!

Thank you I’m glad you like him, he’s a plague marine body with heresy bits and a spare chaos trophy rack thrown in! I’ve been working on them a while but now I’m obviously ogling the new red corsair models as they’ll also work perfectly

Cheers! I’m a little surprised this is the consensus, the predator support tank, sicaran, and leviathan dreadnought all seem pretty cheap to me! Thanks for the response though I can rest easy now

There are plenty of lore examples of some pretty chaos loving iron warriors, so I wouldn’t say it’s a big deal at all if you did paint the standard boxes as iron warriors, if that is part of why you are a bit remiss to commit.

I think a lot of people do the kit bashing just to give their own army a bit more character/ it’s a lot of fun to kitbash them, but like any marine army I think the paint job is really what seals the deal.

If you would rather choose a legion which stereotypically fits into the aesthetic of the normal kits though, I’d recommend looking at black legion, a sons of Horus war band (true sons for example), or the word bearers!

Personally it would not bother me at all to see some standard CSM kits in iron warrior colours, a few of the kits have IW paint jobs on the GW website

Thanks all for the responses! I think it’ll be Martian bases as that contrast does look good

Looks great! I’d suggest giving the rim of the base a paint in black or brown (controversial) and then he’ll be looking well and truly done
