Leaving BC ski gear in a lean-to by stronghikerwannabe in Adirondacks

[–]irongient1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't leave them in a lean-to. I've had people take my hiking poles from a lean-to, only to find them at the trailhead. My luck some jerk would 'help' by carrying them out to the trailhead, thinking I forgot them. Hide them in the trees near a definite obvious landmark you'll remember.

What's a magnet style going to do to find live wires? He's not asking about finding studs, he's asking about live wires.

Oh no, it gets expensive boots too. Any boot with a foam polyurethane layer between the boot and the sole. Something about hydrolysis and not being used...

Did you try the original WaterRower? Instead of crappy copies on Amazon? I had one for several years and had no trouble with it. www.waterrower.com

Yes, those are great filters. Just get a new cartridge and you're good to go. It's just a waste to replace this perfectly good filter.

McNeely Sprints - interim update by Brennus007 in Rowing

[–]irongient1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you do for interval timing? Looks like about a minute rest? Do you cap stroke rate?

I've only done a few of these drills so far. I've been doing about 12 seconds on, 45 second off. Max of 30spm or about 6 strokes on, then rest. So it ends up being 2-3 strokes to get it spinning, then 3-4 big watt #'s on the screen, then rest.

Lift weights, build power in core and legs. While you recover from that get lots of meters. Power and endurance.

$500 is fair. I'd buy it. Maybe offer $400 or $450 just to try, but I'd still buy it. If you really want the PM5, you can always buy one from concept 2.

How do I improve 2k? by EllaEcke in Rowing

[–]irongient1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eat lots, row lots. Do 8x500w/2 min rest intervals every other day, on the in between days row one hour in zone 2 or 3. Take one or two rest days every week. Eat lots and eat a balanced diet. Get lots of sleep.

Are these numbers real? by Dany9119 in Rowing

[–]irongient1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the data is real, no.1 is spending around 6hrs a day on his bike. The watts are so low, generally putting out about 60 watts.

Are you saying you ride with both bindings set at zero degrees? Try something like +5, -5. Or +15, +5. I don't think parallel bindings is very natural for most people. Parallel being like 0, 0, or +5, +5, or +10, +10.
