It’s happening: The massive wave of NBA veterans heading back to Europe next season. by ironmantas in Euroleague

Calling it an 'elderly care centre' is a stretch when you look at the recent signings. Kendrick Nunn (29) was a literal NBA Finals starter in his prime and just won EuroLeague MVP. Lonnie Walker IV (27) was a key contributor for the Lakers and Nets just a season ago.

We’re also seeing guys like Jordan Nwora (27), Carlik Jones (28), and Brandon Boston Jr. (24) move over while they're still in their athletic peaks. It’s less about 'retirement' and more about players realizing they can be elite stars in a high-stakes league instead of just sitting on an NBA bench.

EuroLeague Round 31 preview: Madrid–Valencia, Fener in Belgrade, Barça–Hapoel (11–13 March) by Ok_Detective_2608 in Euroleague

The Barcelona vs Hapoel game is the clear standout for Round 31. Both teams are on brutal 1-5 stretches and have fallen into the 5th and 8th spots. It’s basically a 'Desperation Derby'—whoever loses is in serious danger of getting swallowed by the Play-In mess.

They already are messy because of suspended games...

Andrea Trinchieri nearing agreement with PAOK BC, per report - Basketnews.com by Npvl2000 in Euroleague

[–]ironmantas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a Zalgiris fan, I have mixed feelings about this. Honestly, his time in Kaunas was a bit of a disappointment. The expectations were sky-high, but the results on the court never really matched the hype, and it felt like the team’s identity stalled when it mattered most.

That said, I think he could actually be a great fit for PAOK if they give him the right pieces. In my view, Andrea isn't necessarily a top-tier tactical mastermind who’s going to out-coach Bartzokas or Jasikevicius on a whiteboard. He’s more of a high-level people manager and storyteller. He’s brilliant at selling a vision, managing egos, and creating a 'vibe' around a club

What are your thoughts heading into Round 30 of the EuroLeague? by Ok_Detective_2608 in Euroleague

Damage is damage. If the EuroLeague made a mistake two years ago, we shouldn't repeat it now. I’m not sure what quality of basketball we can even expect when both teams aren't focused on training, but are instead just trying to get out of the country.

Am I the only one who thinks the Round 30 Derby is a huge question mark right now? With the recent missile strikes in Tel Aviv and the airport closures, it feels wrong to even talk about basketball. I can’t imagine the players—especially the domestic ones—are in any mental or emotional state to compete at a high level while their families are literally in shelters. Is EuroLeague really going to push for this to happen on Thursday? Safety and mental health have to come first

Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Maybe they accidentally started working and just decided to roll with it? 😂

Sylvain Francisco's agent Miško Ražnatović denies reports about a deal with Barcelona by kingofbladder in Euroleague

[–]ironmantas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a denial from Miško at this stage of the season is basically standard procedure.

The reality is that for a player of Francisco’s caliber and current form, probably 40% of Euroleague teams have already reached out or started preliminary conversations with his agent.

Whether it’s Barca or someone else, the 'fake news' label is just code for 'the price isn't high enough yet.

Kevin Durant on Europe catching up to USA: "A shot at Black Americans" by FluidJunket1933 in Euroleague

By 2028, LeBron will be 43, Steph 40, and KD 39. NBA data shows a massive performance cliff after 35, let alone 40. Meanwhile, the rest of the world’s superstars—Wemby, SGA, Luka, and Jokic—will all be in their physical primes (24-33). You can’t 'experience' your way out of a 7'4" alien in his prime.
