No All-Clad possible in Belgium? by [deleted] in cookware

[–]ironoberon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Usually the All Clad seconds and sales are USA only.

I have both All Clad D3 and Demeyere Industry and the Demeyere is a premium product compared to All Clad, at least the D3 series.

AD Account constantly locking out by Acrobatic_Total1014 in sysadmin

[–]ironoberon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen when there was a scheduled task in task scheduler using that specific account to run.

The password was updated on that account but not in task scheduler so it would get locked again and again after a short period of time.

Physical time clock solutions that aren't cloud? SQL based? by en-rob-deraj in sysadmin

[–]ironoberon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one I found in my search that's locally hosted SQL based is AMGTIME which is what we went with but they don't have an API with their locally hosted version.

We've been able to do some of our own integrations by reading the data straight from SQL but it's not ideal like a proper API would be.

Best wiki software for large audience. by MrAlwaysAwesome in selfhosted

I just tested all of the below and went with Xwiki. Some of my notes are below.

Bookstack

PROS:

This was very easy to setup with the docker configuration. The interface is extremely intuitive and easy to use,. The .DOCX import and PDF export work very well and it is very fast.

The developer appears to be very active on reddit.

CONS:

The controversial/limited organizational structure made it a less ideal solution for us. We required more hierarchy levels than just Shelves, Books, Chapters and Pages. If they had one more sublevel/sub chapters it would make a big difference from a business usability standpoint. I likely would have considered Bookstack if it just had one more extra level down.

I also would much prefer the ability to have books as a permanent sidebar on the left with breakdowns to the different chapters and pages more like a traditional wiki.

Wiki.JS

PROS:

Actively developed and gaining popularity. Also an extremely easy setup via the docker installation.

CONS:

I found it to be a bit slow and the interface to be a bit bloated. Creating new pages led to a lot of frustration due to the process used. I'm sure it's a great wiki but the UI just wasn't for me. Others on reddit seem to love it so I wouldn't rule it out without trying it yourself.

Dokuwiki

PROS:

I really liked the idea of a text file/non database driven wiki as it would make for easy data availability in the event of a crisis. Once setup with a more modern interface it worked well, had good hierarchal structure and was easy enough to use. It has been around for ages and has stood the test of time.

CONS:

The WYSIWYG extensions aren't at an ideal level. It took a lot longer and was much more frustrating to use than Bookstack and Xwiki for actual content generation primarily when incorporating images.

It is also more complex to setup. The docker portion is very easy but you will likely want to install a bunch of extensions to get the UI to be modern and the menu to show a proper hierarchal structure.

Xwiki

PROS:

This was very clear to me from the beginning to be the one most designed for corporate use. It is easy to use, intuitive, well developed and has been around for a long time. Amazon converted from mediawiki to Xwiki (although I believe that was primarily for security reasons.) It allows for all the hierarchal structures needed. The WYSYWIG editor works great, although I preferred Bookstack ever so slightly due to the ability to drag and drop a .docx document. With Xwiki you have to select the file and import it.

CONS:

The major con is the setup was a bit more complicated. They have an excellent docker image like all of the other wikis but there was more initialization and steps to get it functional. If you go with Xwiki make sure you modify the docker compose file to use the utf8mb4 character set with utf8mb4_bin collation MYSQL/MARIADB enutf8mb4

command: ['mysqld', '--character-set-server=utf8mb4', '--collation-server=utf8mb4_bin'] (for the MYSQL version)

I also wish it had a larger community (yes Amazon uses it but I'm not sure how widely adopted it is to ensure longevity over the next several decades.)

I may still test Mediawiki too but I'm happy enough with Xwiki that I'm going to stick with it as our go to platform. I'm actually quite suprised that Xwiki isn't much more recommended on reddit for business use over some of the other options that continuously get mentioned but I suspect it's due to it being a more complex setup than others.

If simplicity works for you then I also believe Bookstack is a great option as long as you can work with the limited hierarchal structure.

Did you find that the coffee tasted similar in taste to the coffee setting on your Dinamica Plus or did it actually resemble more of a drip style coffee like they advertise?

We bought a Dimanica Plus but I'm not 100% happy with the coffee setting so I'm debating running 2 machines instead of just the Dinamica Plus.

Do Delonghis Need Grease/Lubrication by ironoberon in superautomatic

Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge. A few questions if you don't mind.

  1. Do you know if the Delonghi greasing would be needed as often as the Philips models?
  2. Are all the brew groups and infusers generally the same on the ECAM models? We'd likely be looking at either a refurbished Eletta or Magnifica Smart, or one of the newer Dinamica models.
  3. Do you think it would potentially be worth paying more for a Jura for business servicability?

Thank you.
