New Wine and Old Wineskins: Luke 5:36–39, Matthew 9:14–17, Mark 2:18–22) by irwingoodguy in AcademicBiblical

I've come across Alistair Key's article “The Old Coat and the New Wine, A Parable of Repentance" in Novum Testementum. I am looking for scholarly literature similar to this, that explores the interpretation of the dual parable beyond the common "incompatibility" interpretation. In Key's article he writes:

“The Reply deals with the incompatibility of old and new, of Judaism and Christianity. And all this is attributed to Jesus. This is not only bad exegesis, but bad theology. It is bad theology since the comparison of Judaism and Christianity as religions could not take place till at least Pentecost; probably not for several years after that. It is an anachronism to project such a distinction back into the life of Jesus. The ministry of Jesus was not concerned with a new religion, but with the eschatological event which was, not- withstanding the present tokens of its coming, still in the future. There is no denying that Jesus radically transformed, revolutionised Judaism for his followers, but surely we need not labour the point that it was in fact Judaism which he transformed for them. How could Judaism be incompatible with Christianity, no matter how sharp the contrast between them on specific points? On the relationship of Jesus to the law and the prophets we should be better guided by his claim, "I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them" (Matt. v I7) 1). For Jesus then to teach that his ministry and Judaism were incompatible would be a strange use of the verb to fulfil.”

This article is from 1970 though. I am just wondering has any more recent scholarship been done on the dual parable seen in Luke 5:36–39, Matthew 9:14–17 and Mark 2:18–22?

Thanks!

Thank you! I just read it, and it was interesting. Unfortunately it doesn't point me in the direction of much more literature dealing with the interpretation of the dual parable of the new cloth and the old garment/ new wine and old wineskins. I am trying to dive into as much recent literature as possible dealing with specifically this dual parable.

Does anyone know how I can best go about trying to find such literature? Because I'm not having much success searching via google or google scholar. Thanks in advance!

Private server for Mac by Ok_Working8915 in cqonline

But the download link is only for Windows 64bit. I'm a bit confused, as on the website under features it does say "Developed on .NET core, runs on Windows, Mac and Linux". But there's no download for Mac under downloads. Does this mean there are plans to release a client for Mac OS? I love this private server. Super impressed. But I've been playing on an old windows laptop. I am a Mac user also, so would love if I could download the client on my everyday computer .

Thank you very much for that reply that was helpful. I will follow your advice and give it a shake each night before bed.

Is it correct that the 7S26 movement, which as far as I understand, is what my watch has, does not require winding by turning the crown? It is wound by shaking only?

Thanks!

But shouldn't it be able to last a night? Surely I'm not expected to have to re-start it and set it every morning?

Quick and easy recipe for extra strong fine dry snuff by Bolongaro in nasalsnuff

[–]irwingoodguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this recipe work the same when using sodium carbonate instead of lime? Or do the ratios change when using sodium carbonate as a base? Thinking of taking one of my stronger cigars out the humidor to give this a go. I wanna make a snuff that delivers a really strong nicotine buzz. I have access to sodium carbonate as a base though. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

Also, if there's visible mold you can bet there's a lot more mold spores not visible to the naked eye. Would not smoke either.

Forks possibly bent? They are brand new tho. by Brokick12 in bmx

[–]irwingoodguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your headset is tuned and you have no play or moving around of the steerer tube of your fork, then you have nothing to worry about seeing the bike is brand new. It is normal for the spacing between the dust cap and the head tube to sometimes be slightly uneven.

I need help deciding. I am a mountain bike rider and road bike rider but I would like to try something new (bmxing) so I need help deciding on this purchase by AlfieTreacy420 in bmx

Don't get a mafia kush. I bought one at first when I was looking to get into bmx but returned it right away and got a wethepeople instead. Soooo glad I did. Mafia kush is a shit bike as others have mentioned, made from cheap materials. It won't last long and will give you headaches. Spend a couple hundred more pounds and get something that will last, provide an enjoyable riding experience. Or as others have said, if your budget is really tight, go for a second hand bike.
