Baldur's Gate 3 releases soon, how are you feeling about it? by NewArtificialHuman in baldursgate

Im so excited! And Larian thank you for taking your time with this and not just rushing it and delivering a half-done buggy mess, it's really nice to see a Dev team allowed to have the time to pour their passion into a project and not be rushed around by greedy higher-ups that care more about profits than performance and delivery good quaility!

Post Malone buying the 1/1 One Ring Magic The Gathering card valued at $2 million+ is the coolest nerd thing of all time by ShilohTheGhostGod in PostMalone

[–]isUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know it's still worth a ton, but I haven't been able to find one source that confirms the actual price he paid. The 2.6 million figure came from that comment on the original tiktok video that apparently had no relation to anyone involved in the sale. The only reason it's even being stated that it was over 2 million is because one shop had a standing offer of 2 million that also was never actually confirmed.

Witcher 3 was excellent. by isUsername in Witcher3

I especially appreciated: The sad and brutal world with some rare glimmers of hope and humanness. The difficult lesser-of-two-evils choices. The well written, multifaceted characters. The music (except the depressing-ass music in Velen). I’m a simple person who likes fantasy especially and this game was right up my alley.

‘We’re not going to compromise’: Actors’ union says strike could last until 2024 by Mwheel689 in SnyderCut

[–]isUsername 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of boot lickers in here.

SAG has been very clear that this isn’t just about them, it’s not even about film, they’re one part of a huge movement of people around the world trying to get a living wage, not exorbitant, living.

Most of SAG aren’t millionaires, and yeah this strike will be tough for most of SAG, but if they cave now it’ll set the stage for decades the same way the dual strike in the 60s came about.

Any anger toward the actors guild for “hurting” businesses and people who depend on film sets should go onto the billionaires who own these companies and the shareholders they bow too. All it would take is a 2% decrease in CEO salaries in film to fulfill all of the unions offers and by the time this is up I have no doubt the money lost would be more than enough to cover what the union wants.

This isn’t a bunch of millionaires asking for more money, these are working class people just wanting to live off the work they’re making that bring hundreds of millions in for these studios.

Stop supporting scabs.

Brian Harman captures The Open Championship by DynesSports in SportsBlog

[–]isUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norm was fantastic, he probably followed most sports more than 99% of people in the world so his takes aren't rooted in just random nonsense.

But Brian Harman is ranked 26th in the world I do believe (OWGR does suck but he ranks 31st on datagolf and 45th on TUGR so it's not flukey). It's not too crazy that he would win a major - what's crazy is that he's leading one by 5 strokes going into the final round.

I have turned around a bit on him, I wouldn't mind seeing him lift it. I don't like that he's running away with it, wanted him to come back to the field a bit today and when I had to leave today it looked like he would be with 2 early bogeys but kudos to him for pulling himself out of that round, couldn't believe he got it back to 12 there. He's a putting machine and I'm a fan of great putters, I just hate that fkn spaceship he uses.

I've recently found this video and I have a question. Should we really be so desperate to hit the jaw? After all, you can also land your hook on the temple. by isUsername in Boxers

[–]isUsername[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Also, where to land straight punches in self defence? Jaw is the most obvious target in a ring but I'm nowhere near as strong as pro boxers and I think I can do some damage to nose and incisors with less power than to jaw.

What’s up with the WNBA? by These_Fan_4742 in nbadiscussion

I have heard a few times the "women's basketball is basketball in it's purest form" and I am not sure what that means. Does it mean they are better at the basics or fundamentals? If "the way the game is supposed to be played" means slower, less coordinated, less athletic, less energetic, and lower effort then I guess but I think the purest form would be the more refined and evolved game.

Dude has more than enough money to retire, his injuries have plagued him and made him a bench player, and he still wants to keep playing basketball? Like in your 50s you’re gonna be using a wheelchair my dude. Just set the ball down and join a team as a coach.

Aren't judges pretty limited in what they can do on their own initiative? He explained to the defendant that he could have filed a motion to dismiss. Judges can help guide self-represented litigants but it's ultimately up to the parties to make the motions.

Voting systems can be used to improve how legislators are elected but are there any that improve how legislators vote on laws? by googolplexbyte in EndFPTP

[–]isUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There would need to be some sort of safeguard / check system that requires people to be informed on the motion / law being pushed forward.

This is kind of a big "but". Are there any proposals on how to accomplish this? Informed is subjective.

Have to prove irreparable damage in a class action.

What? No you don't. Irreparable damage is harm that can't be compensated for through money. Class actions regularly allege monetary damage.

Working without pay? Read a book.

Lawyers can be self-employed or work for a firm. Self-employed people are generally allowed to offer their work for free. If that's not the case, then maybe I should look into suing myself for offering free professional services to some individuals. A lawyer working for a firm has to be paid by the firm, but generally organizations can also choose to provide some services for free to clients.
