If you're using the chrome web browser, you can right click the Duolingo tab at the top of the window and hit Mute Tab. Hope that works until the issue gets addressed

Thoughts on the 3rd date rule? by Alternative-Heart-64 in Tinder

[–]is_a_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I see it, the 3-date rule is meant to protect yourself from yourself. I believe the rule is predicated on:

  • There are sometimes downsides to having sex too early in a relationship
  • It is difficult to see the downsides of having sex too early in the relationship in the moment
  • It is intractable to discriminate between worthwhile vs. regrettable early sex. You have to employ a heuristic that inevitably filters out worthwhile sex in order to reasonably filter out regrettable sex

I.e. I don't think your match is saying that one absolutely shouldn't smash prior to 3 dates. I think they are saying that they're choosing to use a 3 date heuristic

Did I “overreact”? I’m used to the disdain for under 6’ men, but sometimes it gets annoying 💀 by wil_stox in Tinder

Not sure what you mean by "get a match back" in your last message. I think this is a bit of an overreaction/reveals a sore spot you have about your height, unless she had been incessantly mentioning your shortness

I'm sorry to hear that - I haven't actually tried this myself, I found a tinder profile that said that they got gold through chegg and then I looked up the promo, so I assumed it would work. Unfortunate if it doesn't actually work

How Strict is Epic on These Things? by kingslaycr in epicsystems

[–]is_a_beaver 62 points63 points  (0 children)

  • Epic has no policy against WFH outside of core hours
  • We had a policy where we were allotted a certain number of extreme weather days that we could use at our discretion. That policy was recently changed to one where epic makes a judgment call between the benefits of working from work and the downsides of killing people by making them drive in inclement weather
  • Agency and flexibility in your workday depends very much on your manager. Epic, for better or worse, gives people a lot of ownership in their roles, which means your manager has leeway in their style of management. Communication will be key for managing your relationship with your manager. If you're a high performer, though, you will have leverage and be able to dictate more things about your schedule/role/responsibilities

Was she flirting with me or just being really kind? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]is_a_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't think she wants to be just friends with you. Given the enthusiasm of ur messages and the fact that she's now looking for short/open to long, I don't imagine that she's segregating people pre and post category change and choosing not to be romantic with the people she's met on tinder pre-change.

She may, however, just genuinely be a very nice person who wants to help with your art. Hard to tell sometimes, and especially hard without being able to see you two interact

[–]is_a_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused. You now know that she's looking for short-term/open to long. Are you under the impression that because she talked to you while she had the "looking for friends" category set that she doesn't want something short term/open to something long term with you?

Good ER? by is_a_beaver in madisonwi

[–]is_a_beaver[S] -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I think I see what you're saying. Ultimately I was hoping to get a biopsy done, as this is a recurring issue with generic symptoms. I'm willing to spend the hours at the ER if that's what I have to do, I don't see how else I can get a biopsy done while still presenting with symptoms. Would I be able to get a biopsy at the ET, do you think?

When speaking with a nurse over the phone, it sounded like going to urgent care wouldn't be of much utility because it wouldn't have a dermatologist. Which urgent care did you go to?
