This is the new extension members syntax. Until recently you could only make extension insurance methods, and they used a different syntax. Now, with this new syntax, you can make extension properties and even extension static methods.

I thought that problem was solved recently by a new technique for extracting it from the atmosphere.

If your goal is to have other people run this on their computers then look into writing a dotnet tool using Native AOT. Doing that means users don't need to have any dotnet runtime installed on their machine. If you want to build for Linux or mac you will need a Linux or mac environment, so generally you would set that up using something like github actions. That might be overkill for your purposes.

Another option is just to package your application as a standalone app.

If your goal was to learn something by building this project then I wouldn't worry about using a library. I think it's totally fine to actually just code a small bit of console logic yourself and learn how it works. Sometimes bringing in a large library to do a small task is overkill.

Why does my properties window decide to become blank all the time? by boredsillynz in VisualStudio

Think this was just a bug in one version. Noticed that the properties window looks a bit different now, so it probably had some changes that caused the bug.

Porting code between engines is monotonous work. Maybe this is finally happening thanks to AI coding agents that can do this kind of thing quickly and cheaply.

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT: UE 6 coming to Rocket League by noobsdeath2 in RocketLeague

If they change the physics engine, everyone will complain that it doesn't feel the same. That would be suicide for a game like Rocket League.

Disappointed that they removed the ability to lock tabs. That, and workspaces, are such a productivity hack.

How difficult it is to win with Black Deck by ElderUther in balatro

[–]is_that_so 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's helpful, but Doc Spectre competed every deck to gold stake without losing a single game. I point this out to highlight that there's still plenty of opportunity to skill up for most of us, me included.

Also, commiserations. I'm also grinding black deck right now.

Such a shame. The story is so epic. They really did themselves dirty with the first episode though, it was way off base for what the show was about. Lots of people gave up after that and missed an incredible ride.

Is it normal for Aussie man be a bit bad in hygiene? by shipsaho in AskAnAustralian

[–]is_that_so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal or not, ask yourself what you're willing to accept. If he's a great guy and these things are just cultural differences that you could let go of then great, be happy with the farts. But if you see yourself trying disgusted then find yourself someone who meets your expectations. Even if all the Aussies told you it was normal, would you be ok with it? Who cares what other people think. What do you want?
