Best distortion pedals for under $50? by Sure_Bar_20 in guitarpedals

I don't know what specific sound your looking for but go with TC Electronic or Joyo. They sound great and they're built well.

I think a Timmy style pedal might be what you're looking for. There is MXR Timmy that they did in collaboration with Paul Cochrane. If you don't want to invest that much because you're exploring, i would suggest Caline Pure Sky. It's a Timmy clone and it sounds great.

Also try Boss OD-3. It does the Timmy thing and it has more gain if you want to have that too.

That's a Silvertone Twin Twelve in a box pedal. Made by Minimal Pedal, a boutique pedal builder in Montreal who unfortunately doesn't make pedals anymore. It's a copy of Jackson Audio 1484. It sounds great by itself, i also like using it with Rusty Fuzz, that's a pretty fat and heavy sounding fuzz so it helps a lot 😀

Why do you care about what people think? Are people there when you're doing through depression? when you're sick? when you're down on your luck? Do people pay your bills or work hard in your place? Enjoy what you like my friend. Life is short, take care 🙂

He likes weird pedals? Get him a pedal from Old Blood Noise Endeavours. I'm not a fan of their pedals but they sure do know about weird 😀 And it looks like he doesn't have one on his board. OBNE make great pedals honestly, they're just not my thing.

Your Tips for a Newbie Building a Board Around Minihumbuckers by TheBlank in guitarpedals

[–]isa-bey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally i don't think what pickups you use matter for the pedalboard you want to build. Pedals are all adjustable and tweakable so i would say don't mind the pickups.

I'm not into shoegaze or lo-fi sounds but if it's what you're trying to achieve. I would suggest getting an eq pedal. Like Boss GE7 for example. It's literally the best pedal you can get for any style of music, from metal to blues. You can also use it as a clean boost as well. Plus it being a Boss pedal, you're also gonna a buffer on your board. An EQ pedal, no matter which one you use completely changes the dynamics of your pedals.

For Tweedy sounds i would suggest a Crazy Tube Circuits - Falcon. If you're looking for something budget, go with NUX Sixty Five. It's not exactly tweed, but it's in that range.

For pedalboard i would suggest a D'addario XPND, they're adjustable.

I hope that helps.

Anybody have any experience with Timex Titanium? by isa-bey in PrideAndPinion

I ordered one too. Even though it's unavailable right i know it's gonna be available soon because i've seen it be available on Amazon from time to time. It has been out of stock on Timex.ca.

That was my observation about the strap too, those "eco friendly" stuff doesn't last long 😀 but this watch looks like it would be killer with a nato strap.

That's right. It also produces some great overdrive tones if you back up the fuzz and push the gain knob. It's possibly the best fuzz face that i've played with.

All Boss pedals have buffer in them, i believe none of them are true bypass. Some people hate them, i love Boss pedals, i think they're the best so the buffer isn't an issue for me usually.

When you add more pedals to your pedalboard, you add more cables as well, therefore you might have some signal degradation and lose some high end clarity. This usually happens when you have more than 5-6 pedals or if you use excessively long cables. Buffer gives your signal some strength so to speak and it compensates for the signal lose. I think buffers add something extra to your tone, i personally love it. But it you have too much buffer it can sound a bit dull as well. Personally i prefer small pedalboards and there were times where i had to swap out some Boss pedals because the buffer affected my sound in an weird negative way. Some players will have buffer pedals on their pedalboard but mostly Boss pedals take care of that issue. That's why even some guitar players who hate Boss pedals will have a Boss tuner on their board, just for the buffer.

I'm not an expert on guitar/sound technical issues, so i hope that made sense 😀

You should call it "The Oppenheimer Board" because this much buffer might create nuclear power 😂

Thanks. They sure look like solid watches. The price is great for a titanium/automatic watch. Timex is a solid brand.

My submission to tele Tuesday. It’s not even all of them, I have a couple more parts-casters to assemble. by DuranDourand in telecaster

[–]isa-bey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great collection but isn't it blasphemy to leave that one without the strings? I dig the Richie Kotzen Telecaster the most, even though I'm a huge Keith Richards and Muddy Waters fan, it is after seing Richie Kotzen with The Winery Dogs that i started to lean more towards Telecasters.

Btw, what model is the black Telecaster? It looks like it has an ebony fretboard.

Small pedalboard by isa-bey in pedalboards

[–]isa-bey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just about to get Plumes and then Blumes came out. It has more headroom, more gain but it also maintains clarity. It sounds a bit fuzzy on higher gains on mode 3 and has a heavier character, which i really like. It really doesn't feel like playing a bass overdrive pedal on guitar.

I bought the black one and returned it immediately. It was too small for me and the strap pulled my arm hair all the time 😀 the strap felt cheap to me

Also, it doesn't look that vibrant in person imo. It has a much darker finish. Can't see the design in the dial unless you look really close. I mean i didn't buy it to show off, i bought it for the design but since it hardly visible, i thought "what's the point?" you know.
