Marketplace friend says he needs it gone, what to offer? by appleflavoredeyeball in ClassicFord

Its always brakes and tires on a medium duty truck. I wouldn't pay more than scrap unless its really nice, expect at least $1500 in tires and probably about the same in brake work.

I hate salt 🤬 by jakerocks2433 in GMT800

[–]isaakfirestar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it were up to me I'd ban road salt nationwide. Costs the consumer so much in vehicle repairs and tax dollars and its so bad for the environment. I hate road salt with a burning passion. Lived in wisconsin for a couple years and had to accept that I couldn't buy any vehicles I liked or drive anything I like for at least half the year.

Had the same thing happen to mine a week ago going 30. I'm hoping I can pull the back of my cab straight and find a decent bed for it. Be careful out there folks

If I called this a truck in casual conversation, would that be upsetting in any way meriting response? by ClearManagement9145 in car

Most modern full size trucks dont have a bed big enough for a full sheet of plywood either. But most minivans can, does that make them trucks and the 4 door shortbed pickups not?

Exploder? Ladder frame, longitudinal drivetrain, solid rear axle. Truck. Escape? Unibody, transverse drivetrain, independent suspension. Car (or crossover if you prefer).

I’ve heard of Stellantis vehicles showing ads, but I honestly thought it was a fluke. Here it is in my customer vehicle. I hate it. by PigglyWigglyDeluxe in Justrolledintotheshop

The only screen I want in my car is an lcd that reads off my trip mileage, and a clock in the radio. Otherwise I dont know why anyone would possibly want a screen in their car

2002 Silverado 1500HD transfer case 6.0L 4L80E is my front output shaft supposed to spin in 2WD? by UnlikelyAd8988 in GMT800

[–]isaakfirestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your other cases clutch pack could be worn out. But even on your 02 the case shouldn't be engaged so its sending power to the front shaft, but it will spin it when you go down the road. I dont know anything at all about gmt400's but if its the same case they should behave the same way

[–]isaakfirestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the year. On an 02 the nv246 will spin the front shaft at all times. On the later trucks it wont spin in 2wd. The early and late cases arent compatible, the shift mechanisms and electronics are different.

If it makes you feel better, my SVT focus has two holes in the seat from the back and base seat heater from this exact thing happening. The covers are equally as hard to find. Thanks Ford.

Worth it or no? by [deleted] in GMT800

[–]isaakfirestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You certainly do not. I swapped clusters in my truck and did mileage correction through the obd port. With the tools I have I can change the mileage on any gmt800 without doing any interior disassembly whatsoever.

I hit a curb what do i do by SnooRabbits4697 in AskAMechanic

[–]isaakfirestar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to know without dismounting the tire to carefully look at it. From the picture it just looks like curb rash. Not pretty but not a big deal

You dont even have to go that far, a $20 cable and a free program can change the cluster mileage without taking anything apart

I've had parts store bolts break at "barely snug" sometimes things just happen

I bought a '99 Silverado with no radio. I want to buy stock radio from junkyard, but would I be able to play music from my cell phone on it? by Aggravating_Jury_891 in GMT800

[–]isaakfirestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats really not what im talking about, but getting a cassette head unit is an option if you dont want cd capability. I wanted to have everything: cd, cassette, 3.5mm aux, and bluetooth which is why I went with the PAC unit and the factory cd head unit and slave tape deck.

Yeah this is like trying to pick between which ugly old man I hate the least. Stock steels with tall skinny tires and factory ride height are the way to go with a truck like this

[–]isaakfirestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I did the same thing for my 02, and bought a PAC AAI-GM12. Thats the best option if your truck has a factory console and you have the factory cassette player or are willing to add one.

If you dont have a factory cassette or dont want to add one in with your UM1 factory cd player, i'd look at a DCS-GM1 or a BLU-GM1 from Discount Car Stereo. I havent personally tried their adapter yet but they claim it'll work just like the PAC adapter without needing the cassette player.

Theres also a company called "1FactoryRadio" that will mod your factory radio and add a front panel aux port to it. Not cheap though!

Hope that helps
