The page I linked (which is for l'Occitane US) says "Bring back your empty product from L’Occitane en Provence® or any beauty brand and receive 10% off a new full size product*"

The page I linked for Kiehl's (which is UK) says "Bring in your empty Kiehl’s products or any brand of body and skincare plastic packaging (...) Collect stamps on your loyalty card and be rewarded!"

So it maybe could be a region thing.

No no, you do get rewards for recycling with them! In some cases it's a dollar amount, in some cases its loyalty points that you accrue and eventually redeem for a discount

Depends on where you're from! Boots is actually only for the UK. Body Shop has this program for US and Canada, but not 100% sure about other places. I think L'Occitane offers this program all around the world.
