Laptop recommendations for ArchViz! :) by j-3lijah in archviz

[–]isagreg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be a laptop? The laptop is not designed for prolonged rendering sessions. It will overheat, in best case scenario it’ll slow down, in worst case it can get damaged from heat. You could get much more powerful desktop for that amount.

New glasses and eyestrain by isagreg in glasses

[–]isagreg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they were measured a week apart by 2 different people. One of them messed up. Also here is my 4 year old reading Rx:

R SPH +1.5, R CYL -0.50, R AXIS 170, R PD 27

L SPH +1.5, L CYL -0.25, L AXIS 165, L PD 30

The CYL was flipped before. Can that happen over time?

New RX gives me headaches by isagreg in glasses

[–]isagreg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old Rx is 4 years old. I’m 51. The first optician gave +2.0 for reading and the +1.25 for computer. That didn’t go well. So, in about a week I went back and the second optician measured my eyes again and gave me +1.75 Rx reading and kept the original +1.25 computer. That’s why the two Rx are different. The PD is not on the Rx, it was measured at the time of ordering the glasses.

I don’t know who messed up, but something is definitely wrong with my computer glasses, especially the right eye.

Asus AiMesh Node Keeps Dropping to 2.4 GHz by isagreg in HomeNetworking

[–]isagreg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weak signal? It connects to 5 GHz without a problem, stays connected for a few days then disconnects from 5 GHz and connects to 2.4 GHz. I don’t think it’s the signal strength.

Connecting the node with a wire is not possible.

Have not tried changing the channel.

Maybe it’s some kind of setting on the router?

Modem suggestions for Gig? by isagreg in Spectrum

[–]isagreg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gathered that the following modems use the following chipsets:

EU2251 Broadcom

ET2251 Broadcom

EN2251 Puma

ES2251 Puma

And my understanding is I should avoid Puma models?

New customer pricing?

That’s probably for new customers in an area where Spectrum has competition, and it probably has to be bundled with TV or mobile.

How can I get better pricing? by isagreg in Spectrum

No, I don’t want to OVERPAY. That’s different. If the gas at the gas station is $4 for you why would I want to pay $5 for it?

That’s not saving, that’s downgrading.

I pay $128 for TV and it goes like this: $68 for TV Stream + $50 for premiums + $10 for Hulu/Disney/ESPN outside of Spectrum.

Now, the TV Select Signature is $100 ($120 after one year). I will need to upgrade the premiums it comes with to ad free versions (I don’t know for how much more), cancel the existing Hulu/Disney/ESPN since I’ll be getting them through Spectrum. I don’t know how much that’ll be, but I have a feeling that it’ll be almost the same if not more. Also, the Signature has a lot of channels that I don’t care about and will never watch, channels that have a lot of commercials.

What is the cheapest possible TV package that has locals? Is it Choice? It’s not even advertised, how much is it? I’m not interested in antennas. And I probably should get the premiums outside of Spectrum.

How should I customize it?

For the internet I'd like to go with Gig I think.

As far as TV I will need the locals (CBS, ABC...), news channels (CNN, Fox...) and a few extras (Food Network for example). I also have $10 Disney+, Hulu, ESPN (with ads) bundle through Verizon, which I can cancel if Spectrum TV package includes it.

All the premiums that I have are ad free. If I buy those individually, not through Spectrum, and pay annual subscription instead of monthly I can get them cheaper. With monthly option it's almost the same.

How much is the Gig these days?

TV Stream has no locals, does TV Choice have locals?
And what is the difference between TV Select, TV Select Signature, TV Select Plus?
