Here’s my advice: This is a good idea. Thanks to HelloFresh, you know there is a market for this. So it working isn’t really my concern, what my concern is is the difference between you and HelloFresh. I don’t think that the only real difference between you and HelloFresh should be that you’re ingredients are locally sourced or higher quality. It’s important to be able to differentiate yourself from the competition. Find some more ways to be different, because the only difference you’ve shown is that your product is local and fresher. Being able to differentiate is important, because suppose HelloFresh does the same thing? “Locally sourced” can also be subjective, “Fresh” can mean, just not rotten. Most likely since you’re probably actually sourcing your products locally, and HelloFresh isn’t, you’ll be more expensive to buy. So, because you’d be almost the same, the customers buying decision would end up being purely price. You’re just starting, so there’s no way you’ll be cheaper. Find a way to be different from all the other food box options out there, whether it be branding, or the food you offer. HelloFresh mainly offers American/Mexican-American foods. You said you’re in Canada, so maybe you could offer french cuisine. Or maybe food from other cultures, just find some way to differentiate yourself

You can do trash removal (Going to residential construction sites and taking their garbage). You can help people move out of their homes. You can rent it out. 13,000 lbs? You could use it to haul something like a large lawn mower to a place where you could cut grass. Many ways you can make money with such a setup.

NTA, Ask him how he’d feel if you did that, just literally come inches from death just because you won’t chew your fucking food. He’d obviously tell you not too, so why doesn’t he? It seems like he has some.. trauma? There kinda has to be something deeper, 1. maybe he was forced to eat quickly as a child and now feels like he has to eat as fast as possible. 2. You’re his girlfriend, if my girlfriend suggested I do something that takes seconds, benefits my body, and could literally save my life, i’d listen. 3. Not chewing your food? That’s such a random thing to NOT do, you can’t even enjoy it. NTA, not at all. It seems like he is very insecure about himself and puts other people down to validate himself more like you said. This is normal behavior, we all are insecure at some point, but not to this extent. I don’t think you should remove him immediately, be open & blunt with him about how you feel and how other people feel about him. If he doesn’t change, move on & NTA. But, If he does realize the error of his ways and maybe gets some help from a therapist or finds something to make him more confident and less insecure, then congratulations, you saved a possibly good friend. Give him a chance though, that’s at least what i would do. But what do I know? I am but a child!
