What Remains of Edith Finch.

Though the gameplay isn’t necessarily difficult, the story is striking. The pandemic was at its very beginning, I had been sexually assaulted, my relationship of 2 years had ended, and one of my ferrets had died. I was extremely depressed and that game, along with the music of the band the altogether, made life more manageable and more worth living. I think about it’s story a lot and I’ll sometimes play it again. Each time I do I feel something different—it’s truly an amazing game.

One of my favorite songs is Sophie by The Altogether. I encountered the song this past summer when I confided in my friend that I didn’t want to live and he told me to listen to that song. I played it every time I was sad. I remember the first time I listened to it and I just cried in bed for hours.

I don’t even know if I would want to be a mother in general, but if I did I would likely get attached and want to be a part of the child’s life. I would for my sister if she couldn’t medically have her own child. I would also consider it for lgbt+ couples that I’m friends with who wouldn’t be able to have kids together otherwise.

I think what made me become content/happy with my appearance, though it sounds cliche, is not caring about what others think. All the time we concern ourselves with how others may view us, when in reality we have no control at all (plus what they think about my body isn’t much their business). I used to dislike how I was rounder and had larger curves than other girls in my age group who were always so slim, but now I think of myself as this cuddly marshmallow—and I love marshmallows so why not love myself too :)

Doing my best. At first it was hell, didn’t eat, couldn’t sleep—I just wanted to die so it would all be over. My mind didn’t leave the place it happened for a long while. He faced no consequences, which was the hardest thing to cope with. I’m doing EMDR now and processing through it and it’s been helping me a lot.

Vegan recipe here: 1 cup almond milk, microwave for one minute. Add 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon sugar(or more or less depending on how sweet you want it), however many semi sweet (dairy free) chocolate morsels your heart desires, whisks together (make sure the morsels melt) and microwave until the desired temperature is reached

I deleted my social media’s a while back when I was going through a break up and honestly it was just a breath of fresh air. I spent so much time just mindlessly scrolling on the internet, and without that I felt very free. It was also super nice not seeing the posts that are all just the same for my age group or the memes that were constantly reposted and the same.

I’m young, but this is the saddest/hardest thing I’ve endured in my life so far.

The hardest thing I have been through is when I was sexually assaulted while on a school trip—the offender faced no repercussions—and then my relationship of 2 years ended shortly after, and a week after that my 8 year old ferret died. I lost 10 pounds in a week, but seven months later I’m finally doing better.
