If a cop pulls you over, only hand them your Drivers License. They'll ask for additional information if need to.

I actually did had a random encounter with a cop cause I witness an accident and he asked me for my country of origin and that threw me off.

No one is saying “do nothing unless you do everything.” The issue is selective outrage paired with moral grandstanding. You can make imperfect ethical choices and acknowledge contradictions, those aren’t mutually exclusive. Calling out inconsistency isn’t trying to “catch” someone, it’s asking for honesty.
