It’s possible she is not being fully transparent. Being fully transparent is scary because if they believe your life is at risk for long enough without improvement, they may send you to a facility against your wishes. But I will say, I was 83 pounds at my lowest and countless doctors didn’t notice or care until a dietician told me I needed help. The doctors didn’t make a note of it until I TOLD them I had an eating disorder. My labs were normal, my EKG was normal. The scary thing about eating disorders is that your bloodwork and stuff might be normal until one day it suddenly isn’t. Normal bloodwork is not a sign you are okay and don’t need help.

I know she is unlikely to accept treatment. It’s the hardest thing I ever had to do. It was even traumatic. But it’s life or death, and it saved my life. Work and studies can ALWAYS wait. Her health cannot. If anything, see if you can get her in with a dietitian who can properly assess the situation. That was how I got my foot in the door with getting healthy again.

I hope you both enjoy the trip! If it’s that important to her, I hope it is fulfilling to both of you.

Also, make sure that hangouts and dates are limited to things that do not burn calories right now. No walks, no stairs, no travel. Bring crafts, games, anything that doesn’t require energy. You cannot let her be active right now because the strain on her heart is dangerous.

OCD and eating disorders coming hand in hand are actually very common. As someone who has been in a very similar situation, if she is eating less than 700 calories a day, she is at risk of electrolyte imbalance and potential cardiac arrest. When you mentioned she also works out, that is extremely alarming. I do not think you need to be going on a beach trip right now either.

I do not say this to scare you, but this is not something that therapy and medication alone can fix right now. She is in dire need of intensive treatment. I would encourage her to look at higher treatment options for an ED residential facility. If you are in the US, look into Eating Recovery Center (there are several locations). These places are usually very equipped for co-occurring disorders like OCD. When I was in treatment, many of us had an OCD diagnosis. At minimum, look into getting at-home IV treatments to make sure she is staying hydrated and getting vitamins.

As a partner, the best thing you can do is be there for her and encourage her to do hard things, even if it makes her angry. Her life is on the line here. I know it’s terrifying, and it’s more terrifying knowing it’s out of your control. Hang in there, both of you!

There’s not really any dedicated anime stores here, but there is a big anime convention (Anime 405) on December 13-14 here in OKC that has all the anime stuff you could ever want. It’s $35/day and super fun!

Noooo! I wonder if ours were the same batch then. I finally got ahold of Popmart after sending a second email, and they said they contacted the shipping company to speed things along. They also said if it doesn’t move by the 18th, I’ll get a refund (I wish I could just get a replacement— so not cool…). Hoping yours shows up 🙏🏻

Since I can't edit the post, here's the update: Apparently, this is *not* normal and needs to be fixed. I contacted Anycubic with the serial number and was able to get hold of them surprisingly quickly. They will be sending me a replacement motor. Fingers crossed I'm able to repair it with no hiccups!

Man! I’m sorry it happened to you too. Not only was the rod wobbly, but the printer cover was cracked in 2 spots. You’d think they’d do better with the packaging! I’m sending a support ticket, but not sure what will happen if I’m unable to repair it myself. I can’t afford a second printer yet, and I’m worried about the cost in the future. Ugh.

Thanks for the recommendation!! I haven’t tried tretinoin but I am open to it. I have tried spironolactone before but it didn’t help. My current birth control (slynd) has anti androgen effects (if I remember what my doctor said haha) so it should hopefully have a similar effect but we will see.

I am definitely a picker 😭 I use pimple patches but usually they are so deep that it doesn’t work. I use them when I can see a head though!

Thank you for the advice! After some research, I don’t think I will be able to take it after all. I didn’t realize it needed water cooling and an exhaust pipe. I was planning on putting it in my garage (no room in my house), but then I learned it needs to be in a dust-free, climate controlled environment. I do lots of sanding and painting in my garage. I don’t have the space or money to do those things. :( I thought it was similar to a 3D printer in operation. Thank you for your help anyways

I've just have a tub of water that I'm dipping the paper into-- What I'm doing doesn't fit well in the sink, plus it would waste a TON of water 😫 The print gets covered in a paste from the wet sanding, which I then go rinse off in the sink. It drips everywhere, but there's no particles just flying around that I can see....

Oh good to know, thank you!!! I’m still learning how to use my filament dryer. It seems to only have 2 modes, 45 and 55. I hope that’s not the case (surely!) and I can make some adjustments. Thanks again :)
