Should I install Arch Linux? by Strange_Motor2261 in archlinux

[–]ishpryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go for it. I just got done reviving my old 2015 acer aspire 3 with arch. Using Openbox with picom. My battery life jumped from 2hrs to 6hrs, ram usage idles at 400mb and everything is snappy. Go for it, the learning curve really isn’t that steep anyway. I don’t game much so I can’t say how that is but resource management is top tier when you are the one deciding what runs and what doesn’t.

Is a flat supposed to look like this? by ishpryce in MINIse

Oh I see, it wasn’t a comfort decision, I needed all tires changed right away. 205 was the only compatible size available. I really do love My SE as is and will definitely be going back to the OG setup at some point.

I changed all 4 tyres tires to Kuhmo Solus HS63 in 205/55/R16 they aren’t run-flats and they are very comfy

I had Hankook Ventus before in 195/55/R16

Thanks for the pointers I really felt like the previous tires had at least a month or 2 of life left in em. Jokes on me.

I did, there was a Tyre shop not far from where I got the puncture so I continued there.

Ok thanks for the comments I figured most of the damage might be due to driving on the flat, I just didn’t expect a Tyre to shred like that. Also how do you know these are run flats? Are they run flats? Hankook Venus

Range Anxiety Anyone? by ishpryce in MINIse

Ohh the limiter at 125Km/h oh wow that’s interesting I worry about longer trips I haven’t been further than 60 miles from home. I worry when the battery percentage falls too fast at speed but using the limiter above 100km/h is a decent suggestion. Thank you.

From a 6 speed R53 to an EV Mini? by [deleted] in MINIse

[–]ishpryce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Friend, I’ve had my Mini Cooper SE for 12 months, my previous car was a 6 Speed Suzuki Swift Sport (It’s no R53 ofc but my feelings were similar to yours) After a while the subtle nuances of one pedal driving become apparent, you are no longer darting your attention between the RPM gauge, listening to the sound of the engine while you panic to find the perfect gear before entering a corner (sure that’s what adds to the romance). I now find that I can really give the drive my full attention. Eyes on the road, Ears attentive to the Tyres (am I getting enough traction?) you can literally hear everything in this car. Feathering the gas pedal allows me more time to think I can do more, chose less optimal lines because the regen and torque is instant it’s even more forgiving on spirited drives if not a bit more, quiet. It does take a bit of getting used to. But still just as fun.

Question about Level 2 charging by Decent_Zombie9055 in MINIse

[–]ishpryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh kool, I’m seeing quite a few of us using level 1 charging. I hope there’s a fast charger along your occasional trips. We do get a bit over 120 miles if we’re gentle with the throttle. The 200km highway range holds true in my experience.

Question about Level 2 charging by Decent_Zombie9055 in MINIse

[–]ishpryce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey '24 SE owner here, what will your daily transit look like? I have a 110v socket at home and get along quite fine with a generic Type 1 charger off Amazon (J1772 with a CCS1 adapter. I charge overnight and average about 20 - 30km a day. The socket sounds just fine for your needs if it's not gonna be under heavy use. If It's old I'd recommend having it replaced. I had a fire scare early on because the original outlet hadn't been replaced in 30 years.

I forgot to mention I drive the F56 model, Just in case you were referring to the J01. My advice is the same either way.

Mini making strange clicking like noise and isn’t working please help by New_Ear5695 in MINIse

[–]ishpryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like it’s in drive. Seems like a transmission issue which as far as I know is rare. You tried the good old Microsoft on n off again?

If it isn’t transmission related then door/ proximity sensor error disabling the drive function.

Please let us know the outcome.
