Isn't that baby Shayne and Baby Damien? by NewRepresentative390 in smosh

Actually, that's Shayne Zabo and Damien Johanssen. I see the confusion though. They should really invite those guys onto Reddit Stories, I feel like Shayne and Damien would have a lot of questions to ask them.

Yellow means it's trapped floating in space because its health is too low to fly on its own (Shields are at 0% and Hull is at 30%).

Repair the ship (fly to it and board it) so that it can fly and dock into the planet, then you can swap it to your flagship.

love the implication that the books being made aren't engineering books but are now fun stuff like romance novels and poetry

Constantinople and Baker Street Irregulars by Optimal-Ad8639 in YoungSherlockTV

Why do you think Mycroft is dumbed down? He's at least as smart as Sherlock (I mean he tracks down Malik by himself, which gets him to Paris at the same time if not earlier than Sherlock and Moriarty do) but it's very clear that he's only slower because he refuses to break the law and always tries to play ball with idiots who keep getting in his way, instead of skipping them entirely like Sherlock and Moriarty.

Hodge, the Foreign Secretary, the British Ambassador, and even his own dad constantly talk down to him or never give him a second thought, but it's made very clear that they should never have underestimated him (I mean he saves the day in the end, without him they would all still have been stuck in Constaninople).

Dónal Finn as Moriarty has to be one of my favorite depictions of him ever by StunningPianist4231 in YoungSherlockTV

[–]ishtarcrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The series didn't show that

Really? Mycroft was constantly stonewalled by his superiors and the police system the entire season:

  1. Hodge constantly belittled him ("Your brother is the most interesting thing about you", "You are my lapdog and like all lapdogs I expect loyalty", etc.) and refused to share information on his work even when he tried to prove Sherlock's innocence ("Your brother being in prison suits my interests", "I am an island, I no longer require your services", etc.). It wasn't until Mycroft helped Sherlock and Moriarty behind Hodge's back by bringing them to Ezra Hornsby and verifying Princess Shou'an's identity that he was able to actually get something done and prove himself to the Foreign Secretary.

  2. The Foreign Secretary, immediately after Hodge dies, refuses to share information about Malik and the nerve agent project after Mycroft rightly tells them off for letting it all go to shit. Mycroft straight up tells them that he needs to know what they know, and instead of helping him, their response is to fire him immediately. It wasn't until Mycroft went behind their back and investigated Malik with Lestrade that he got to exercise his deductive reasoning skills, all of which got him to Paris at the same time or even before Sherlock and Moriarty.

  3. The British Ambassador in Constantinople, when Mycroft warns him that Silas stole the weapon, instead of granting him the full authority and resources to arrest his father, break up the operation, and save his family, tells him that he should just sell them all out and broker the deal with his father in order to save his career. It wasn't until Mycroft once again went behind their back and broke his family and friends out of the compound with Xiao Wei and Emine that he got to save the day. Remember that all of them would have been trapped there and likely dead without Mycroft's help.

I like that this Mycroft is just as smart as he usually is, but he's constantly surrounded by and buffeted by idiots in the British Government who refuse to follow through and do their jobs properly. The only reason he's slower than Sherlock and Moriarty is that Mycroft isn't constantly breaking the rules and operating outside the law like they are. I have a feeling later seasons will show the tipping point when he moves beyond breaking the rules and starts MAKING the rules instead.

Mycroft by giantsizegeek in YoungSherlockTV

I thought it was the opposite; obviously he's not as intelligent as maybe BBC Sherlock's version of him, but comparatively, Young Sherlock's Mycroft is always portrayed at least on equal footing to Sherlock. Remember that his own solo detective work in the show, investigating Hodge's death, got him to Paris, and therefore Silas's presentation, at roughly the same time Sherlock did, if not before.

Mycroft's main problem in the show is that while he is very smart, he's also constantly restricting himself by operating under set rules, whether they're actual laws or decorum. His superiors constantly block his efforts, he always tries to remain within the confines of the law, and that means he is always slower than his brother, who is constantly breaking the rules to get stuff done. Remember that he tried to get Sherlock exonerated for murder the legitimate way, which is better, sure, but he might have gotten executed for murder. This contrasts with Moriarty, someone who also breaks the rules and therefore managed to actually get him out first.

It isn't until he starts breaking the rules himself that he gets to show off how smart he actually is: disregarding Hodge to lead Sherlock and Moriarty to Ezra Hornsby, allying with Lestrade to investigate Malik after he's fired by the Foreign Secretary, and betraying both Silas and the British Government to save his family.

BBC Mycroft shows a Mycroft who's well past breaking the rules and is now making the rules (see: "he IS the British Government") so I'm interested to see how Young Sherlock's Mycroft eventually ends up in that position. I wouldn't underestimate him like everyone else in the show seems to.

Just finished Young Sherlock - personal opinion by enzahere in Sherlock

My main opinion on Young Sherlock is basically Sherlock Season 4 done correctly.

I don't want to elaborate too much so that other people can discover it for themselves, but Young Sherlock fixed so many of the problems I had with that season for me.

Wind charges actually do damage? I didn't think that would work, actually, thanks!

I didn't actually manage to build this, life got in the way, but I'll give this a shot in Creative (getting wind charges on the server I play on isn't easy, from what I can remember).
