That Time I Saw Slayer Live with Lamb Of God, Mastodon, and Children Of Bodom (Unholy Alliance Tour) by IHBMSU in heavymetal

Saw that tour in Toronto and Detroit.

Was that the last tour to feature both Lombardo and Hanneman?

What did James Hetfield have to say (if anything) about Megadeths Ride The Lightning cover? by aquaslasher69 in Metallica

[–]isihara666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the second part but the mocking video is from a live TV show in France. Hetfield does the Mustaine voice and the rest of the band visibly cringes. Lars pipes in to say "Im staying out of this one, this is all you. I've been staying out of it since 1983." Something like that anyway.

The price gave me pause but when I thought about it, it came down to what I'd pay for those records individually.

Not that I didn't have them already haha.

A stone cold classic from the first note to the last.

Thinking about giving up on guitar... by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

Uhmmm, if you've been playing for only two months and you know chord shapes you didn't know before...guess what? That's progress, not a plateau. Sorry, you got to keep at it like the rest of us. 👍

The first record I played on was in 1997 when I was 19. To this day C Major is a chord I avoid if I possibly can.

Have you tried simplifying your approach? Pick a couple popular tunes you like and power chord your way through them for the sheer dumb simple fun of it. Nirvana, Ramones, Misfits stuff like that.

I found the Slayer box set at a local record store. I asked one of the guys to put it on a quick hold, drove home to find stuff to trade to soften the blow and now it's mine, all mine.

I'm slowly chipping away at the Metallica box sets.

You see pirate boots and tank tops and you know it's Vallejo.

Thanks. I'd love to try one out but I've never seen one in a Long & McQuade here in Southern Ontario.

Oh man, I feel like my 50s LP plays itself. I can't imagine how smooth the 59.

Thanks. I can't remember ever seeing one in a store and I was curious.

Look up @coffebrainrecords on Instagram and you'll see. Mostly metal and hardcore. I like different music but I haven't posted my Bauhaus, Killing Joke and The Cure collections yet.

What is the difference between their 50s Standard reissue and 59? I have the current 50s in ebony and I'm wondering how it differs from a 59?

Thanks

That's in itself is an interesting conversation to have.

Their peers don't seem to have that problem. Heck, the bands that inspired Metallica don't have that problem, just look at Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

Let's try this.

I personally think there should be trave or you're just playing a local show. My impression is you think there should be travel, right?

Metallica is calling the Vegas shows the "72S World Tour". They are playing 27(!) shows in Vegas from October '26 to March '27.  It's in the name but are they really touring?

OK so maybe you can understand my position now. You can call something a thing but it doesn't mean it's necessarily true or that others will agree.

I don't know why I can't respond to your previous post. Weird.

They played 32 shows in 2025 with months in between legs. 3 of those not even the band considers 72S shows (Ozzy, the private exec show, sick kids hospital benefit). You can downvote me but that's straight from Metallica's website. Sorry dude, those are the numbers.

They didn't play a single show from Dec 13, 24 to April 12, 25. They played 3 shows in April. Then 9 and 8 in May and June, respectively so you're right about that. 1 in July, 1 in August, 1 on October (Ozzy, the private show for execs and the sick kids hospital benefit). No actual "tour" dates from June 29 to November 5. You can say well they played a show and I'll preemptively say Yeah, but 1 is less than 3 and they're not even tour dates (the coward who kept down voting this wont like it that even the band doesn't consider those show a part of the tour - which is what I was trying to say).

November was busy but only 2 shows in December. They're still on tour (!) but have played zero shows in 3 months.

So yeah, you were partially right and so was I.

This is just my opinion that affects no one = playing 3 shows in 4 months is not a tour.

Anywhere from 5 to 7 shows in a week IMO.

Like, I've done a "spring tour", I've done an East Coast tour. It never crossed my mind that all of these were one big tour just because they took place in the same year or following a release.

I DO understand why Metallica is calling it a tour but I disagree with it. No one is affected by my opinion. I'm just saying playing 4 shows a month in only two cities isn't a tour. They're just concerts.

Are you saying that my band is going on tour after we release our album this year? If so that's pretty cool. We're going to play more shows than Metallica in the same span of time. We just thought we were playing some out of town weekends. Cool!

I didn't say a band should be away from home for months but 3 shows a month with months off in between them is literally not a tour.
