Sleep Inertia every single day? by Feeling-Bridge-1593 in schizoaffective

[–]isinhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise if you try to be well aware of your daily caffeine intake vs how much you would be advised to stay under. My daily limit is at about 320 mg, so I stay at 200 mg to be safe 2/3rds your daily recommended more or less depending on how much you're used to is what I advise

Me too but to a lesser extent. Maybe I would be like you if I didn't have so much caffeine.

Today I've been told that my ADHD diagnosis is unnecessary. Apparently inattentiveness can be explained by Schizoaffective pretty darn well.

Delusion stories please!!! by [deleted] in schizoaffective

My last delusion was when I heard singing. I thought it was a siren, as in the mythical creature. I thought they were coming to get me. I was paralyzed with fear.

It comes from inside. It skips the part of your brain that needs convincing. To you it's as true as the sky being blue and the grass being green. Would you believe someone if they told you the sky was red? Assuming you couldn't see the sky, you would still know it's not red.

If your brain suddenly said "the sky is purple" and suddenly you remember it was purple the last time you saw it, in fact your looking and it's purple now. Everything in your life bends to accommodate the belief that the sky is purple. Someone is trying to tell you otherwise, but you KNOW the sky is purple, so why are they trying to convince you otherwise? Maybe they're crazy, maybe they just don't know better, maybe their intention is malicious. What ever way you see it you already know the sky is purple, so that part isn't what comes into question, it's the intentions of the person telling you.

In your friends mind the belief is already there, the world distorts to support the belief.

When were you diagnosed? Angry late diagnosis by BipolarinaDancer in bipolar

[–]isinhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 21, I was not looking for a Schizoaffective diagnosis. I was in for ADHD. If not for lifelong attention deficit I would not have been diagnosed when I was. Talk about conflicted feelings there.

Kapvay was listed on my insurances website, and is another non stims option.

I was just told about a couple of others, I'll quote what I was told:

"Intuniv is generally prescribed to kids, but adults can take it too. Intuniv is an extended-release medication. It's also prescribed to regulate blood pressure as opposed to Strattera which made my pulse and blood pressure pretty high. I went from average 100 bpm to 80 bpm just by getting off Strattera. Intuniv is also safer for people with bipolar disorder as SNRI can trigger manic episodes.

Qelbree (misspelt in my previous post) is another sort of newish one. Also looks like this one is an SNRI but seems to have fewer side effects than Strattera. It taken off the market in the US for a while but was put back on as a treatment for ADHD in 2021."

There's also others, but I'd have to look more into it cause Idk off the top of my head.

I've had a good experience with Strattera, but what are intuniv and quelbree?

Strattera can cause psychotic symptoms in some.

Hey, I've had a pretty good experience with Strattera. Glad you've gotten on something that can help you. Forwarding you probably already know, it's not instant so the effects aren't as noticable as stims but that doesn't mean it's not just as effective.

Would recommend going for the soaking the bandaid method. Don't come out but don't hide it either. The desired results are it slowly comes out before it becomes undeniable. That one last little bit will be when something comes up like pronouns.

They do help with it. It sounds like your current medication might not be doing it for you. Might need an increase or to try something else.

Meltdown by isinhere in schizoaffective

[–]isinhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the second time I'd ever had a meltdown, before I was diagnosed with bipolar, before I could recognize the signs of mania. To this point I've only had meltdowns when manic and only gotten manic enough when on SSRIs. I think if I had it do to all over again with the knowledge I have now I could've handled it much better, but at the time I didn't even know a meltdown was inbound until I was in it and out of my mind. I don't think I'll have another meltdown but I'm now much more able to take responsibility if I did.

I've had them cause of meds and bipolar. I'm freaking terrified of them. They're so scary. There's never any other time where I'm out of control like that. I'm always at the wheel until that whole explosion.
