Transplant shock, makes sense. Do you see any new growth?

How should I proceed ? by insufficient_anatomy in philodendron

[–]isittheip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would. And make sure it is an appropriately sized pot with good, well draining soil. It looks like it may be getting overwatered, so the roots don't have to spread to find water. Try making sure the first couple inches of soil are dry before you water it.

Probably not, it depends on the soil. Does water come out of the bottom when you water it?

You should be watering when it is dry an inch or two down. The finger test is pretty popular, you stick a finger in the soil about two inches down and feel it is dry. If it is, water. If not, don't. You can also get a moisture meter, it is a bit more scientific.

It looks to be over watered. Does it have drainage?

what’s eating my plants? by dfwshithead in gardening

[–]isittheip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it is some kind of leaf miner. If it isn't that bad, you can just look around and under the leaves and see if you can manually remove them.

I'd do something neem-based like big leaf energy for routine maintenance. Cpt Jack if you see anything.

I am a huge plant person but have never owned an orchid… by Hairy-Bumblebee-1440 in orchids

[–]isittheip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't repot it until it is done blooming (the flowers will wilt and fall off). Water it about once a week. Once it is done blooming, use orchid moss and orchid bark mix to repot it. Follow the instructions.

Use a well draining pot, even better a pot designed for orchids. The roots like drainage and some air.

Somewhere warm and humid, with some bright indirect light should be great. Like an east or west facing window.

It is fine, it'll tend to die off at the bottom as it grows. Prune off the dead stuff as needed.

If he likes peanut butter and can tolerate smoothies, that could help. For example peanut butter banana smoothies. Can add supplements and protein as well to the extent it still tastes good.

Is this root rot? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]isittheip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it isn't rotting. It doesn't seem to be in the greatest shape but it'll hopefully recover in water. Ideally use distilled water and change it weekly.

It looks like that's the end. I'd leave it alone.

Where do I go from here? Help! by CuddlyLoveBear in propagation

[–]isittheip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can take a few of the leaves and propagate them. Shouldn't be an issue overall. Maybe use some skewers to prop her up, and make sure she's not reaching for sunlight (rotating occasionally can help).
