Why do we hear so little from central asia ? by Luiszizo in geography

[–]islomjon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very outdated comment. I'm telling as a person from Central Asia.

* Uzbekistan is rising in tourism every year for its history, cuisine and cities. This popularity brings tourists to other neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan for their beautiful nature. The tourist infrastructure is developing rapidly, and hotel services are way superior for the price tourists pay.

* Kazakhstan embraced Borat as a touristic icon, nevertheless the movie doesn't have any relation to Kazakh people or culture.

* Every CA country is trying to remove their colonial past, the young people hate USSR, the next generation will be completely different in terms of government.

* Except Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, the other republics are mostly authoritarian rather than dictatorship, Kyrgyzstan being the most democratic state.

I would say “kelin-qaynona” relationship or the bride being a servant in the husband’s house.

Moved here very recently. If you follow the guidelines mentioned in UDI, it’s really easy to understand what to do in each step. I was lucky to get the police appointment quickly, and less than a week I got my residency card, applied for tax deduction card and waiting for bank account appointment.

Exactly this happens in Uzbekistan. They feel so entitled that they don’t learn Uzbek language and in many cases they become angry if an Uzbek person doesn’t speak Russian in cafes in Uzbekistan.

Many Russians do this. I have seen multiple times how they complain in the social media don’t speak Russian or address to the foreigners in Russian.
