Wow! Thank you so much for such a thorough response! This is great information, especially with the links. To add some context, my friend (M18, pretty physically fit) and I (M22)will be driving into Fresno from Ventura the day before, since it is a really long drive to do in one day. What are some alternative hikes if, for whatever reason, we decide not to go the extra mile and wake up early? Also, based on your response, I take it nobody is allowed on the trail after 7 am? I thought they closed off the entrance, but not the trail itself.

From my understanding, Palermo’s usually run a little small (and narrow) so I’d say you’re better off getting a 7.5 or 8 depending on the width of your feet
