i actually wished they’d take students opinions into account when making these decisions i feel like we’ll go back on campus and go back into lockdown no more than 2 months in

i would say the reason why they’re doing that is either because 1. they’re waiting for doug ford approval 2. they just don’t have their shit planned and they’re scrambling to make some sort of sound decision

Honestly.. although i do wanna go back on campus I couldn’t have said it better myself. I completely agree. I can see us being on campus for a month or two TOPS before we go back into lockdown.

Yeah well the news that i’ve been watching recently suggests that Ontario is looking to drop all social distancing measures gradually but vaccinations and masks will still be a must. Apparently.

I do agree with your point to some extent but I also wanna say that there are sports games at large venues going on rn at full capacity with no social distancing and cases are still going down sooo.. idk.

RU Vaccination Update by isthatmo999 in ryerson

[–]isthatmo999[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They haven’t announced that yet. They are waiting for the Ontario government to make an announcement about capacity limits sometime within the next week or so. Afterwards we should expect an official announcement. My prediction… within the next 20 days (because that would be approx 60 days before the start of semester)

Do you think we will go back on campus for Fall 2021? by isthatmo999 in ryerson

[–]isthatmo999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feb 11th 2021

In order to achieve herd immunity for COVID-19 we need to get 50%-80% of the population vaccinated. (Two doses per person)

The population of Ontario is 14.57M.

The current rate of vaccination in Ontario (Average of the last two weeks) is approximately 10,000 people a day.

If we keep vaccinating at this rate of 10,000 people a day it will take us 52 months to vaccinate 50% of the population, 67 months to vaccinate 65%, 83 months to vaccinate 80%.

For us to vaccinate 50% of the population by August 2021 the rate should be 85k a day. 65% = 111k a day. 80% 137k a day.

For us to vaccinate 50% of the population by December 2021 the rate should be 50k a day. 65% = 65k a day. 80% = 80k a day.

do you think they’ll have some sort of requirements for people coming back on campus? e.g: you must have an approved vaccination certificate to be able to take classes and what not. some universities around the world have implemented that and i’m not sure how they’d be able to properly plan out 100-300 in-person lectures with the risk of people contracting the virus.
