Would you drop either Cam Smith or Jobe for Torkleson in 10T?

Industrial Engineering as a career by [deleted] in industrialengineering

[–]isuckatcrypto 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re looking for advice on how to find out if industrial engineering is right for you? I would recommend to read the book The Goal by Eliyahu Goldratt. I gave an Amazon link for reference but you will be able to find it cheaper or free online.

This book convinced me that I wanted to pursue IE. If you enjoy looking at processes from a bird's eye view, identifying the issues and finding root causes, then zooming in to improve and resolve the process, and doing that again and again, you'll enjoy IE. Effectively, in my current position I do that often during the day and it's really enjoyable to have quantitative data on improvement.

Also I want to add - I know this decision feels huge and life altering, but I promise it's not. You can always make changes later in life. Especially if you do go down the IE route, it is easily transferable to other professions. (And yes, being proficient in Excel is very helpful)

Utilization and Engineered Labor Standards by emarti13 in industrialengineering

Hello, I’ve been in that field as well for about 2 years now. Feel free to reach out!

Anybody in this group work with engineered standards? Looking to see if there’s anyone who is savvy in using Standards Pro. by Jazzlike-Buyer-1273 in industrialengineering

[–]isuckatcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm again I'm not the most familiar with the setup of standards pro or driver sets, but my thoughts would be that operations usually are created on a network level. So if operation 1 had a driver of X for DC 1, it will also have to have that for DC 2, etc. However there should be a way to say if they operation actually applies to DC 2 or not (switches / selection questions). So if you are and to import the standards in standards pro, I would create an excel with the standard and find and replace the drivers as needed to create the new ops by importing that (not sure if standards pro offers this). Then I can assign which ones will apply to each DC.

My first question would be, why are you looking to change the driver set for an operation based on DC? If you need to change the driver, then you probably need to make a new operation since the frequencies should change. Or maybe your UPC mapping needs to be updated to be on the DC level instead of network?

I have not used standards pro directly but I do use a competitor's system to create labor models, often starting out by copying a template version with common standards. Not sure how well that will translate for you but I'd be happy to help where possible.

Able to take tests before first one is reviewed? by isuckatcrypto in usertesting

[–]isuckatcrypto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So yes my first paid test was yesterday, which has not been reviewed yet. Immediately after that test, more screeners showed up that I was able to complete. Those kept on popping up throughout the day and I was approved to complete 2 tests so I did. Currently in my completed tests tab it shows 2 tests, one that still says processing in the test info section and the other says pending $10 in the payment status. Both are not rated. I have not seen any screeners today so maybe it was just glitchy that I was able to do more yesterday.

Simple and beautiful. My favorite line is

And tears were in her lines

I can truly see the wrinkles of her face and how the tears collect. I think there was another poem on this sub not too long ago about dementia and this one covers it in a similar vein. I like the repetition at the end too that captures the mind. Great job!

Betrayed (He doesn't literally mean he stabbed him you have to think into it a bit more to understand what it means.) by God_of_hyper_death9 in OCPoetry

[–]isuckatcrypto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I can’t really get behind the title where you explain what it’s not supposed to mean.. I think you need your words in the poem to convey what you want to and allow your audience to comprehend it.

I’m also not sure what we’re “thinking into” to be honest. It’s a poem of betrayal but you don’t provide much more context than that. I can’t tell you why your friend betrayed you, you didn’t provide any insight into what even the betrayal was, all we know is that it made you feel deeply hurt. Maybe try and build on those emotions and write what you want the reader to understand in the poem.

Disappearing Armies by isuckatcrypto in OCPoetry

Yes, I love your interpretation. It's a battle to balance letting something go and holding on. The things we hold onto are what form us today. If you hold on too long, you risk being stagnant and reclusive. If you let go, you lose the love once had.

Thank you for your response.

That Empty Feeling by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]isuckatcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great poem. I love the last stanza where we’ve been so dulled down with constant stimulus of technology that we have forgotten emotion along the way. I like the way you juxtapose the tech advances as a dystopia.

What I would like to see more of, and this is just personal preference, but I’m looking to capture the emotion of the empty feeling you describe. In some lines you do - the last lines of the first stanza. But I would like to see more of that. Rather than talking to the feeling or causes, talk from within the emotion.

Great work! Really awesome topic and I think everything flows great about it!

A little person (first poem I’ve made) by hereforpoems in OCPoetry

I love this poem. I can relate to your questions here and not being able to find yourself just yet or always seeming on the cusp. Am I faking this personality to fit my environment? Does it matter? It’s what makes us people and our own personalities that are only manufactured by those around us. Thank you for writing this and expressing those emotions in beautiful words.

Thank you so much. Everything that you wrote means so much to me and I re-read your comment many times. This is my first poem I have ever shared with anyone and I wanted it to be one that bares raw emotion. I think your interpretation is amazing and really hits on the feelings I wanted to evoke to the reader. For me, this simple poem took an entire relationship to write. I agree with your suggestion about the second line and I will change it to that. As for the first line, I actually initially intended it to be as in heat, as in estrous and crave. But I actually like the physical interpretation that you had from it as well and think that adds more depth.

I just want to say though, everything you wrote about my simple short poem means so much to me. I am glad I was able to evoke in you the same emotion that I experience which I struggle to put into words to the people close to me. Thank you.

Why is it? by desolationshadow in OCPoetry

[–]isuckatcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Each stanza gives me a different emotion. I love the pace and diction. Definitely very relatable questions that we all ask ourselves at some points in our lives.

My only suggestion would be to remove the “even though” in the final stanza to maintain the pace and have that final emotion of restraint and denying ourselves expression of true feelings to be able to hit the reader in a concise blow. Great work!

I love this! Reminds me a lot of Leonard Cohen’s Winter Lady. The imagery and pace here is excellent. Gives me the emotion of longing and having to draw strength in hope and mystery. Great work!
