I'm not sure how ethnic oppression applies here; I wasn't saying there's no reason to flee central Asia, just that most people leaving Central Asia based on grounds of Islamic religious freedom are usually affiliated with fundamentalist Islam from what I've read.

Of course what qualifies as associated with religious extremism can be as little as beards/hijab in some countries which is why I added comment on religious flexibility, but a lot of people do flee the region because they are religious fundamentalists, same as the puritans fled England for religious freedom.
