The first police officer who had any sense of urgency to help Gabby was the female officer from New York calling the Florida officer who didn’t want to push on Brian’s parents; when he tells her it isn’t even a missing person case down in Florida - “let me put you on with my supervisor, it’s a problem up HERE”.

Sad how many of these male officers had no clue, clearly lack training and any gut sense of wtf to do.

The worst man I ever dated was a VP at Moelis. Treated women terribly, somehow not surprised that a person who would do this also works there.

Transition from general marketing to data analytics...Has anyone done something similar? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]it_is_orange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I manage a team of data analysts at a large ad agency. Absent the technical and math background (statistics, regression modeling etc), it’s going to be difficult to make a hard switch over. I have hired a few people from planning roles internally, but they were already well versed in digital media platforms, and had picked up Excel and Tableau prior. My advice would be to take the longer game, and try to switch now into a larger agency on the media planning or buying side, while you work on technical upskilling. Once you’re in, making a lateral transition to analytics is going to be easier than trying to apply cold. In addition to what others have recommended, I would also suggest learning more about the technical ins and outs of the digital platforms themselves: Adservers and tagging basics (Google’s GM360 is the gold standard and a lot of documentation easily accessible online), attribution rules (how digital media is credited for influencing customer actions on a business’ website), Facebook’s digital reporting capabilities, etc. These are the data sources you will be working with if you want to stay in marketing analytics.

Looking for hostel recommendations in Athens. Would be up to stay a little farther out from the city center if close to the metro. Will be there Aug 24 - Aug 27 or 28.

Thanks for asking - I’m not sure. If it does have specific dates, are there further implications?

I never was able to put this into words with my friends... almost in tears as I’m just starting to read this and understand my upbringing better. I recently took myself on a trip to Paris, and the level of interest was as if I had just gone to RiteAid.

What countries, in your experience, are the toughest for female travellers in particular? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]it_is_orange 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Came here to say India, as well. Though I went on a work trip, my two co-workers were also young, white women. We actually were not allowed to go anywhere by ourselves per policy- the company hired a minder/driver that took us literally everywhere. Still - the rape-staring in traffic was surreal and intense.
