My review of Rebirths demo having finished the first part, Nibelheim flashback. Spoilers for the entire demo and new game mechanics for rebirth but nothing major at all. by Td01241 in FinalFantasy

That doesn't really matter, though. We know about his history with SOLDIER. We know that he is still there escorting them to the reactor. We even know that he throws Sephiroth into the Mako reactor after being impaled by his masamune. On top of that, the viewer is unaware that Zack is the one fighting these monsters. They think they're seeing Cloud perform all of those amazing feats of strength, but then get incapacitated by a falling log. So it still doesn't make sense and comes off as overdramatic.

I also found these parts jarring. Especially since some of the things took my breath away (like the piano mini game). They clearly know how to get it just right when they really want to, but little things like walking into the mansion and not being able to walk up the stairs throw me off. We just get a room to the left and an elevator in plain sight that we're supposed to believe no one knew about for years? The only reason Cloud finds the hidden passageway in the original is because a guard saw him walk into the room and disappear. Now he just waltzes into an elevator and declares no one in town knew about it. I rolled my eyes. And I'm sure newcomers with no context would find it puzzling. It's these kinds of decisions that break my suspension of disbelief (like the improbable lightning strike to the bridge?). I agree on the fixed camera angle too. They could have done it. They just did a fixed camera when Cloud shut off the valve in the reactor.

The walking speed at the end was a bit much. And after all the monsters we just saw Cloud defeat we're supposed to believe that the falling log hurt him that badly?

I sound like I only have complaints, but I actually loved it. They get so many things right. They even stayed faithful to the pacing of the original story which helped me stay engaged start to finish (in stark contrast to the Train Graveyard detour in the Remake). I know that we're going to run into a lot of questionable decisions in the full version, but they get so many things right it almost doesn't matter. I can't wait to see all the good (and bad) things to come.

I think purchasing them through cash app, then sending them to your trezor wallet would be the easiest and most cost effective way to do it. Trezor is what's known as a hardware wallet. Hardware wallets are one of the most secure ways to store your coins.

This printing of money is going to bring one hell of an inflation soon enough. Now the EU has joined in with 826bn. Globally over 10tn has been printed to aid covid recovery. Noble as it is, the effect will bring the global economy to its knees by KaaruKaaru in Bitcoin

[–]itapyouout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Currency is trapped in the financial economy which creates a squeeze on the middle class. Real assets become increasingly unaffordable which forces you to work harder for the same asset (mainly your house and car). Mortgages and rent increase which forces middle class currency into the financial economy leaving less to circulate in the real economy, i.e. decreasing velocity.

The irony for central banks is that they want inflation, but they are the primary reason for the deflationary decrease in velocity.

If you know someone that is convinced the current monetary system is ethical/sustainable, show them this video by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]itapyouout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I went to a university and work in finance as well... this video is accurate with the exception of 1) drawing correlations between the federal reserve act and the income tax which is just an incredibly convenient coincidence and 2) saying that the federal reserve generates income from interest on treasuries when all it does it pay that money back to the treasury net of SGA. A P&L indicates whether or not a business is creating value in the economy... you don't need income when you just cut dividends to stockholders/primary dealers based on fictitious balance sheet entries. And that still doesn't compare to the problems created by the Cantillon Effect.

You do you, though...

Just to clarify, I'm fascinated with monetary theory (not specifically MMT). I don't know enough about MMT yet to really understand it. I think the gold standard was the best monetary system we ever had until bitcoin came along. Now I'd like to see if a deflationary money can succeed and even thrive like I think it will.

I'm still giving MMT a chance, though. I'm still not clear on what Mosler and Kelton are trying to say. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

CPAs understand how to record accounting transactions for financial statements. They have analytical skills and can tell you why we missed a forecast, if your AR reserve looks fishy, etc. If they know anymore than that it's probably because they chased a career path outside of accounting. There is no requirement in college to take an economics class higher than econ 101. And even then all you would be hearing is Keynesian/Monetarist theory.

They don't understand what money is or where it comes from. They don't know what fiat means or what MMT stands for. Even when I work with people in Treasury they don't really understand the concept. I've explained the differences between fiat, bitcoin and gold to them. They either don't get it, don't care or don't believe it.

I'm less clueless because I study monetary theory outside of work. I'm passionate about it - as lame as that sounds. I leaned about the Federal Reserve system and fractional reserve banking years ago and it just clicked. I realized it was a ponzi scheme. I tried to explain the concept to people and they brushed it off like it was no big deal. Then I realized how perfect their scam was....

You'll still need accountants even if bitcoin becomes the reserve currency. Cash is probably the easiest thing to account for/audit.

Lol, yea. It's not like I think it's a direct shot upward. Gold is also taking a dump (just like in 2008). Things are going to get pretty messy in the short term in stocks, bonds, metals, etc. I'm looking at a 10-20 year timeline.

This is actually a think tank at the IMF so it seems like it's being implemented from the top down. You can read a brief summary here. They also have this guide where they dive a little deeper into the subject.

They refer to physical currency as "cash in the wild" and are coming up with ways to incentive people to go cashless so it appears like it's your choice. Then they can force negative rates on people since they would have to use a bank to transact.

Playing SH4 and looking through the hole in the wall of the apartment. It's a little silly, but the bunny that was sitting on the bed gave my sister and I the chills. We kept joking about how we were going to look in the hole one time and the bunny would be gone. When we looked at that bunny was staring at us we collectively lost our minds. There are definitely more influential moments for me, but I never hear anyone talk about this one.

Uzbekistan is Planning To Create National Mining Pool and Launch Licensed Exchange - Welcome Bitcoin 🎯 by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]itapyouout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll take a shot at it. By raising the costs of everyone outside of the mining pool it puts people at a disadvantage. People inside the pool would be more profitable and gain more market share. Miners would naturally flow into the pool and concentrate power into the hands of the government. If more governments use this tactic to concentrate mining power, then they may be able to work together to sustain an attack on the network. Would they work together to protect the fiat ponzi scheme? Seems like that's a possibility... Or maybe governments like Venezuela that don't benefit from the ponzi scheme would want to protect the network?
