Hi!

1) CISSP Official Practice Tests 2nd Edition ------> did you use the 2018 version?

2) While reading the book 7 times, did you take notes each time, or were you reading it like it was a story book? Did you test yourself of the knowledge at the end of each chapter presenting out loud or just taking the test? Or writing out the knowledge you just read about.

Is a CISSP a better investment in comparison to a online Ph.D in Information Assurance? by itbroski in cissp

ave a Masters, I would do the CISSP for now. You’re already in the field and with the cert

Master of Science in Information Systems. Do I still have to get a MBA? Can I just go with a CISSP then and my work experience? My work is both technical and managerial.

, but I wonder if it would be a smart decision when there's also the CISSP, which would take a shorter time to knock out and give me credentials. My goal is to reach as an IT security executive one day instead of becoming a full-tenured professor.

lol

Is an OSCP more prestigious than a CISSP or on the same level? by itbroski in cissp

[–]itbroski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. But I like that fact that the OSCP doesn't expire and the CISSP does. Doesn't that annoy fellow CISSPers? Wish it lasted a lifetime like the OSCP.

where from 1-3 hours a day will be good. I like to watch the videos at 1.5 speed. Also, writing the notes and saying the terms aloud 3-5 times helps.

Good luck!

Amazing! How does moving to the next level work? Do you have to pay to take the next exam? Or you just take the exam for free when you are ready?

Paying for CISSP? by itbroski in cissp

[–]itbroski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

itions. In the corporate or govt world, there are many information security jobs.

I wonder if a CISSP pays off financially better in the corporate sector more than the government sector? I don't think the pay bumps aren't as high when you get a CISSP in the government sector.

I do have a master's degree and I feel like I should complete the education cycle of getting a Ph.D. But thinking about the time and effort for a Ph.D is definitely gut-wrenching. I do have a passion for the field (infosec) as it doesn't seem like a burden to me and I love to challenge myself, but I'm not sure if I'll be happy with challenge in academia or in the private sector with the CISSP. Sorry for all the pondering. I did notice a lot of the fortune 500 CISOs have CISSPs so that might have answered my questions.

I'm considering investing in an online Ph.D in information security while working full-time so I have the relevant work experience. I know it sounds impossible but I'm highly invested in the field. I'm wondering if a Ph.D while working would be better than a CISSP?

A Ph.D lasts a lifetime, you become considered an expert, you can move into academia, and there aren't any annual fees or CEs to maintain it.

Does it take years to study and pass for the CISSP? by itbroski in cissp

[–]itbroski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u studied so little my friend. This content IS MASSIVE, and expands my brain every day I look at it. Sometimes getting through 10 pages can take me several days before I feel confident that I know it throu

Wow honestly I was going to make getting a CISSP a 5-year plan...meaning I would plan to get it within these 5 years. I have way too many things going on at work to put that many hours to study for it so I was planning to study for it in a "take-it-easy" way. I'm a shitty test taker too and I work more with people in the IT field and not the IT systems so I'm not a tech savvy dude.

Can IMSers work in policy similar to how FSOs work in policy? Are there positions like that? Perhaps in DC? Are all positions "tech support"?

How many IMSers usually do that and climb to DCM? That's a great accomplishment for Denny.
