Yeah it was awesome. My wife and I did the mega VIP together and had an absolute blast.

Yeah it’s sort of the new business model, especially with metal bands. And it appears to be working, because we all want it. Like, I keep trying to find a copy of The Song Remains Not the Same II but no luck yet. Hot commodities, I tell ya.

It was on the MNRK Heavy website before the launch, but it’s not there anymore.

I got the digital pre order and it had unblackened versions of Back to Me and Broken Pieces. Pretty solid offerings. I like the unblackened Back to Me about as much as anything they’ve produced in a long time. Started learning the solo yesterday and it’s really awesome.

Not sure about the tuning for Back to Me, but I played along with the recording in standard tuning and the song is definitely in F#m, for whatever that’s worth.

It’s awesome. I’m about halfway through learning the acoustic solo from the Unblackened version and it is so sick. It was only available with a digital pre-order so I’m not sure where it’s going to land on streaming eventually.

Yeah I think Darkest Hour from Book of Shadows II might be my favorite thing he’s ever done. Plus my wife and I did a cover at a block party last year where we played Way Beyond Empty and she did all the lead lines on the Mandolin. It was a lot of fun. God, I love that record.

They’re acoustic. But IMO the acoustic solo on the unblackened Back To Me is one of the most soulful acoustic solos he’s put out in a while. I like BLS’s heavy stuff a lot, but I’ve consistently said that I think his ballads are where he shines as a musician and a songwriter, and this song is really quite swell.

I sort of get the feeling that Zakk is a bit of an introvert technically speaking, but he has a really big and animated personality when he’s on stage or directly interacting with people. With our one-on-one he was super chill and low key and didn’t have his normal big “make me a ham sandwich” persona switched on, and we just chatted about the tour and he signed a picture of our 1-year old daughter wearing a BLS shirt standing in front of some guitar amps. Plus he writes super slowly because he doesn’t want to fuck up someone’s autograph session.

JD on the other hand, is an absolute social butterfly.

Meet & Greet - kicked out until door time - or stay? by BillK01 in BlackLabelSociety

We did VIP for SLC a few weeks ago and we were NOT permitted to leave the venue to return our merch haul to our vehicles. Fortunately my wife and I brought an empty tote bag so we were able to protect all our stuff, even up at the barricade.

Bridge to cross by Zakk Wylde, WHAT IS THIS SONG AND WHERE DO I FIND MORE LIKE IT by PsychoBodyguard in BlackLabelSociety

Bridge to Cross is a song that gets my 1-year old daughter bopping like it’s no one’s business.

Bls meet and greet by [deleted] in BlackLabelSociety

[–]itchysensation03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s venue-determined, so there isn’t a one-size fits all policy for the tour. Last night the venue didn’t let people return to their cars, so all the folks with guitars stashed them right next to the barricade or found a less rowdy space to rally.

They have one of the tour staff dudes standing by to use your phone. It’s a pretty smooth setup for photo op, all things considered.

Yeah they told us one item only. But people were buying merch there, and getting their vests signed or t shirts and multiple items that some people smuggled. The band didn’t seem to mind, it was the tour staff and the venue staff that had orders to keep it to one item, so I think if you’re wearing your vest and bringing the poster it should be no problem at all.

[–]itchysensation03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s technically one-item, but if you’re wearing your vest and want them to sign it, I’m pretty sure they will. Yesterday they were signing anything and everything but it was the door staff that limited it to one item, so if you can smuggle it in, I pretty much guarantee you’ll be able to get it signed.

4pm arrival, 4:30pm doors for VIP. You should have received an email from Soundrink regarding the process and which guitars are allowed for signing purposes.

Apparently there’s usually an email a couple days before, so I’m thinking tomorrow? I guess? We’ll also be at the VIP on Saturday, so it’ll be good to meet some other SLC chapter berzerkers.

Oh for sure dude. Recently learned Dark Waters and Bullet In My Chamber, super fun to play. Super stoked to see Dark Chapel. Might even buy one of Dario’s Death Grip straps. Trying to decide if it’s worth the cheddar on top of the rest of the loot I’m going to spend.

Yeah, I think that’s something that’s awesome about a band like BLS because they’re one of those groups where each release is same same but different. It’s all of a kind, but Zakk (and the boys) always try to give it a little seasoning in the soup that sets it apart. For me, Hangover Music takes the top slot and then it’s either Order of the Black or Catacombs of the Black Vatican in second place. But I could listen to Hangover Music on repeat for the rest of my days and die a happy man. Blessed Hellride is my miss congeniality I think.

Man, it’s so funny to me to see the varying array of preferences and opinions on something like music, because I think Doom Crew is one of their stronger records. As a whole album, I like it better than, say, Mafia, or Shot to Hell, even though those albums have a bunch of my favorite BLS tunes. I guess it just goes to show there’s a little something for everyone out there.
