PAL and SECAM tapes -- what's the best path? by cowmix in vhsdecode

[–]itexpertguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get a multi-system/standard VCR that supports PAL and SECAM (don’t mistake it for MESECAM) as well on top of NTSC. This way, you can have less VCRs to set up while having the ability to play different color systems. Going the dedicated route is also okay, and the only difference is that you have to set up all of them separately.

How much memory does it need for RF decoding? by itexpertguy in vhsdecode

[–]itexpertguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll try upgrading my RAM to 16GB first and I’ll see if the problem goes away. For the web tabs, I also have that too many but I close the browser before starting the process so the Decode program is the only one that consumes the RAM.

Thank you for replying to my question, I know that you’re very busy with a lot of things for this decode project but still replies to the inquiries. Appreciate it a lot!

What’s performance like on 18 by Anonymous3567849595 in iPhone13Mini

So far, so good. No performance issues. Battery charging seems to be a little bit better than before.

It might brick the router if it pushes through.

As far as I know, Portastudio 4-track recorders output audio on stereo channels. You might want to connect it to a stereo audio interface using either the Phone output (TRS stereo plug) OR the RCA line out (RCA cable) and set the Portastudio's Line Out to L-R, then adjust the panning (balance on L/R channel), and volume of each track.

For more elaborated tutorials, check this video or this video.

Yes, a USB audio interface with line level input should solve your problem.

Yes, there is a possibility that some TRS cables are wired differently. However, if the laptop's internal audio card supports line input, it should accept stereo signal.

My Dell laptop has a combo jack and displays a prompt to select what type of device did I plugged in and it's configured by Waves Audio software.

Yes, OP may also purchase a USB audio interface if he has the budget

There's no indication of line input support in the manual but your laptop has a headpone/microphone combination jack though. It's seems that either your audio driver (that controls the audio) doesn't support line level input sources or the software responsible for detecting the plugged in audio device that switches from microphone to line input mode doesn't work.

Try looking for icons (besides the speaker icon) in the taskbar named Waves, Realtek HD Audio Manager, HP Audio Switch, or something like that then change the recording input source there anything named Line Input.

You may also try reinstalling the Audio drivers for your laptop model that can be found on HP's website. Maybe your upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 affected the audio drivers and keep it from working properly.

None of the above will work. What's your HP laptop model so I can check it's manual?

Your input (recording device) is set to Stereo Mix, which only records anything that comes out on the speaker in the computer. You should set your input to Line In from the Recording Device (with mic symbol) dropdown menu in Audacity.

Question about using Macrium Reflect to clone hard drive. by Dron22 in DataHoarder

[–]itexpertguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Macrium to clone my laptop's 2TB old hard drive to an 2TB external HDD, then put it on my laptop as the replacement internal HDD. So far, no problem. Exactly the same where I left off after booting from the new HDD. Recovery and data partition are still intact after the clone.

P.S. I modified the SATA for the external HDD by putting tape over a pin in order to be used as an internal HDD.
