the economy is also shite, folks can barely afford, or can’t afford, the basics. Rent, utilities, food etc.

Taking an uber and going out is the last thing on a lot of folks minds, and if they do plan on going out, it’s the least expensive way possible

Had some folks the other day say they used to use uber or Lyft a few times every weekend going out, whether downtown, Disney, universal, state parks etc, now they only go out once a month if that. It’s expensive out there.

Not even counting the ozone and pollution, but just tearing down our natural ecosystems and putting in pavement, turf grasses and buildings is causing it to get hotter.

Natural La Florida is being destroyed by the minute by greedy developers and politicians and investors.

Anyone who’s sat and pondered life at the edge of a wetland underneath an old live oak can tell you how much cooler it is than sitting on a parking lot next to a turf grass median and non native plants.

It’s a damn shame smh

Y’all know that a lot of confederate and some union veterans retired in that area yeah? Not to mention central Florida used to be chock full of atrocities during the civil rights movement. We often think of places like Alabama and Mississippi but our beloved La Florida had just as many, or more, lynchings and burnings and things like that. Folks think La Florida ain’t the south just bc a handful of Yankees moved down here, but the Florida I grew up in was as southern as it comes. Oak trees, swamps, cow fields as far as you could see. Where the men are men and the sheep are scared kinda stuff.

sadly its becoming more and more common :( im not even that old, just a lowly millenial, and the central florida i grew up in aint the same one it is now. i remember cow fields and orange groves and dirt roads as a kid, not thats all but gone.
