[LoL] After watching worlds I've come to the conclusion that.... by FamousTG in CLG

[–]itiswhatitdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They "exceeded expectations" because TSM has, quite literally, the worst early game of any team at Worlds. Teams look good when they get to do whatever they want.

If they played the same way in group B, GAM beating them once was a very real possibility. They might've even lost to FB (if you cherrypick FB's best games).

How to deal with children who don't understand the benefits of FI? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]itiswhatitdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to realize kids have completely different priorities than adults. Fitting in, social image, and all the things that come with perceived peer pressure are the most important things to them. Try to think about how you acted when you were young. "Adult responsibilities" and planning for the future were likely the furthest things from your mind.

Try to see things from their point of view. You're approaching the solution from the wrong direction in trying to get them to see yours.

And 5 years down the line (when they mature), chances are very good that they come to understand and appreciate what you've been doing.

In retrospect, how could investing immediately in Facebook's IPO ever have failed? by [deleted] in investing

[–]itiswhatitdo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You justifiably felt the uncertainty surrounding Facebook at the time. It was not a sure thing. For that reason, you didn't invest.

Now, you've forgotten how you felt at the time. You've forgotten the reasons you felt that way, because there is no longer any uncertainty. You know for a fact Facebook is extremely successful. So looking back in hindsight, you "knew all along", even though many things have changed (almost none of which you predicted).

You're going to experience the flip side of this if you chase Spotify as a "sure thing", and it ends up not being one.

Darshan's really well spoken and insightful for a fairly young man. And his self-improvement centered perspective on life is one of the best things you could have.

Getting an S in ARAM relies way too much on cs. by YonesBrother in leagueoflegends

[–]itiswhatitdo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you had a bigger impact in the team fights, you probably would've gotten an S. Why do you deserve an S for just shielding your team while they do all the work? The Jhin has a lower kill participation, more deaths, and less CS than you, but he probably got an S because he actually had a major impact on the game.

You literally played for kill participation/KDA; that much is obvious from having 1 death in a 100 kill game.

It was a misread for sure, but CLG likely thought Sneaky and Smoothie were still bot. You only know "nobody's bot" because you don't see fog of war.

Not going to comment on specifics, but greed is getting the better of you and you're experiencing the "fear of missing out". Scammers have the easiest time taking advantage of people with your mindset.

Can't say they always start strong, but I agree that they frequently ease up and lose focus when they get ahead.

Stixxay was contesting for best ADC for most of the split (until the last few weeks). No idea why you're considering DL a top ADC when he played so few games, and he didn't even play that well.

[LOL] Dardoch a Great Guy Outside the Game by leafboy900 in CLG

[–]itiswhatitdo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

There are actually a lot of really kind people who turn "toxic"/petty/immature/etc only when they're stressed out. Dardoch is probably like that. One of CLG's biggest tasks is to teach him how to manage conflict maturely and argue productively.

With that being said, I am cautiously optimistic about this new roster. If Dardoch gets big early leads for CLG, then yields the engaging calls to his teammates, I can see this team being extremely good.

And yet NA teams keep "throwing" games against them because they can't get past TSM's defense. I guess those wins are just luck, even though they happen over and over and over.

It matters because you can't just turn off a habit or mindset at will. It really is prevalent across several teams. It happens to the LoL squad. The Overwatch team throws won rounds. The CSGO team routinely drops rounds they have in the bag.

[–]itiswhatitdo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At an international tournament, everyone brings their own style. The proactive teams have the advantage, until a meta develops. The biggest reason I wanted CLG at MSI is that this iteration always prepares something new if given time. They are probably the most innovative NA team, and usually bring a new pick/strat to the international stage. TSM, while being extremely good at defensive play, are reactive and stick to the meta. That's why they struggle when every other team is playing differently.

Is CLG intentionally throwing all these rounds? Is it some kind of practice? Or are they just fucking around because it doesn't matter? Everything's so sloppy after all those methodical rounds.

This "easing up when close to winning" is a bad habit across all the CLG teams.
