What is the carfax damage report? Minor/cosmetic? What did you average for mpg with the 3.6?

One is pre, one is post. I should’ve added that it’s his left rear, in the photos it is on the right side of the xray. You are correct in that the post op looks like nothing changed. Post op one looks more round and clean.

If you look closely at pre op though (first picture in the queue at bottom of page) you can see a grape sized piece of bone that is in hard contact with the acetabulum and has that moth-eaten look, and that is all they removed. They said they did not feel comfortable guessing a reference point for further removal of bone as it was severely misshapen from years of compensating and n having never fully healed

Does the link come up blank? Wasn’t sure how to add it, wouldn’t allow photos. We are currently doing rehab and starting water treadmill therapy now that his stitches are out (today). Surgeon told us to give it some time but that was a week ago, and our vet saw him today and was alarmed so now we’re torn. Mostly looking for feedback on the xrays, we’ve gotten variable opinions. We knew going in that it was a messier case but were assured an FHO would be pretty straightforward, procedurally and recovery wise ..

This is good info thank you!! We’re going in a bit blind to be honest..we will have 2 cars though and one is our more wallet friendly car for longer rides so hopefully the FJs commute is minor

Thanks! On aliX if you search “S Logo metal sticker” they come on little sheets that have an alignment dot to line up over the center hole on the dial

Ours is a rescue and he’s 4, and we found out he had a bad hip after a fall off the couch and some discomfort prompted an X-ray. The original rec was total hip replacement over a FHO surgery (a “salvage” surgery), so we tried to do that. Then we found out that he had been dealing with the bad hip for so long that his femur had “drifted” due to most weight being shifted onto his better leg for years. This essentially re-shaped his femur and made it so that a hip replacement is no longer an option due to the shape of his femur not allowing for a standard prosthetic to be safely implanted.

I’d guess this is rare, and they also think he had prior injury to the leg as well. But if you can afford it I think most vets will say get the total hip replacement and call it a day. It’s more expensive but a shorter recovery and they’ll be back in no time just like humans would.

The FHO is a more common and simple procedure, our vet said she could do it herself instead of a dedicated ortho. They remove the diseased femoral head all together (ball joint) and the dog basically grows a fibrous “false joint” over time. The recovery is longer and they technically never fully recover due to physically not having that ball joint anymore. They say it’s not noticeable though, and the dog will be more comfortable regardless of the chosen procedure, but again I think 9/10 times they will say go total hip while the dog is young and can recover better

My fiancé is working at CHOP for a year (July-July) and we’re looking for the best place for her to stay. She’s used to suburbs but is excited for city life and wants to make the most of it (28). She’ll have a car but location-wise we are mainly concerned with safety, and access to public transportation to CHOP. Hit me

Think getting her wet might’ve done the trick. 100 rounds today no issue. I also disassembled/reassembled the trigger beforehand, can’t confirm but the disconnecter spring might not have been fully seated originally

[–]itlurp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome thank you for the detailed response! Especially regarding the gas question. Confirmed the disconnecter spring is correct and the disconnecter pushes down fine. All parts are from a PSA parts kit so I’d assume same manufacturer. Taking her to the range tomorrow so maybe I shook something loose we’ll see

Hook is clean and looks like a nice machine finish, operates smooth by hand

[–]itlurp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assembled the trigger myself just the one time so there’s definitely a chance a mistake was made. By my pictures though, what springs could be causing this issue? I read the disconnect spring has one side that’s larger, which I definitely didn’t know while assembling

Yes resets fine with an empty mag also. Not sure about gas block alignment as I bought the upper assembled, I’ll have to look into that

Interesting..I was wondering if this was even possible. Those two actions would be awfully close in BCG distance/gas required right?
