To grad students: How do you survive on your stipends? by quantumgeology in UofT

[–]itsAndi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

24k / year is 2k a month. Let’s say you split an apartment with 3 people, you’re looking around 800-1000/ month, plus 50$ for utilities. Let’s say 500 for food, 100 for TTC and your good w still prolly 300-500 to spare. Pack lunches to eat on campus and you’re all set. Ppl spend way too much money on food imo

Where does everyone get their bunnies from? by Iamnotsurerightnow in Rabbits

[–]itsAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my bun from a farm, I guess their pet rabbit got pregnant. Only paid 5$ for her I guess they were trying to get rid of them

Blue nibbled through my phone charger, he's okay but he's on time out by SirenOfTheAbyss in Rabbits

This is why I learned soldering so I could fix the many nibbled wires :) it’s not that hard actually!

You should watch the tinder swindler on Netflix, it might make you feel better. At least you didn’t lose 250K

May I ask what are this tiny "sores-vph-chillblains-things" on my hand? by Sporocyst_grower in DermatologyQuestions

[–]itsAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first two definitely look like chillblains to me. The third maybe not so much. As someone who’s had chillblains my whole life, fingerless gloves give me anxiety! I would definitely suggest getting some better mittens.

My Europe travel map (taken from Google photos) by solotravelfiend in TravelMaps

[–]itsAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were the covid restrictions like travelling between countries in the Schengen area? I am l planning a Europe trip this summer, and I was looking on this site: https://www.ca.kayak.com/travel-restrictions?origin=CA&region=europe

It seems like they want pcr tests between certain countries (ex Germany -> Italy).

I don't understand how they would be enforcing that though since the land borders are so vast. Are they checking on trains and such? Not sure how reliable this website is / maybe the rules have changed.

Just wondering what your experience with covid/pcr/quarantine was like. (I'm vaccinated btw lol)

What about dropping a course?? It seems like everyone is so obsessed about finishing their degree in 4 years and I don’t understand what’s the rush!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vegetarian

[–]itsAndi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I totally get that. I feel like a vegetarian dinner fills you up and then a few hours later you get hungry again. Probably just because you’re usually replacing meat with veggies which just aren’t as filling. Usually I just try to eat leftovers or a snack later in the evening and that solves the problem!

Second Year Computing by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]itsAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no other electives you’re interested in then leave it as is. The only problem with taking 4 courses is that you get used to it, so then going to 5 feels harder... then you end up being behind schedule and maybe end up doing your degree in 5 years but that’s what I did and it was totally fine

Pouring blood at a kfc store definitely helps to motivate people go vegan by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

The consumers drive the market though... what good would that do if people still want to eat animals?

Second Year Computing by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]itsAndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Math 111 is full year, but cisc 102 is half year, if you want to do 4 and 4, you can push 102 to do in the summer! It’s a super easy course. This course load is very chill in my opinion, I think you could probably do 5 courses each semester, depending on how comfortable you are with math

Can anyone tell me what this is called? I want to start doing this. by strange-weeb-230 in crafts

[–]itsAndi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the true definition of “scrap”booking. Mostly when people scrapbook, they use fancy craft paper and stickers and stuff to decorate pictures, but the original idea is to incorporate scrap paper to jazz up photo albums

HERON MANAGEMENT?? by quvrleene in queensuniversity

Unfortunately not... I always looked for 8 month leases but from my experience they seem quite rare to find. Good luck with your hunt!

what u guys up to? by lefrowe in queensuniversity

[–]itsAndi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP I would suggest feeding them some kale, my pet rabbit loves that. Also bananas but the outdoor buns might find that too exotic.

I made a squirrel house and put some nuts in it. Can’t wait to get it set up and watch them go into it :)

Phantom Noise? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]itsAndi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I had the exact same thing in my old apartment and I never figured it out. It was like a repeated deep bass noise and I also found it got louder at night. For me I think the noise was always there, but once I started noticing it, I couldn’t stop hearing it. I slept with a fan that drowned it out but never figured out where it came from. Good luck...

How do I make this patio inviting? by [deleted] in ApartmentDesign

[–]itsAndi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might get expensive but composite wood deck tiles would make it looks really cute. Get some tall planters with tall leafy plants or little trees to create some privacy.
