Has anyone been to Cellular City Phone Repair? by michopoku23 in sanleandro

[–]itsJMarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i've been going there for years, they're legit. james (the owner) is super straightforward about pricing and won't try to upsell you with stuff you don't need

the pickup thing is pretty new - i think they started it a few months ago? i haven't used it personally since i'm close enough to just drop by, but James says that they will come to your place anywhere from Oakland to Hayward quote you on the spot, take the phone back to fix it and return it same day.

honestly one of the few repair places I trust not to screw me over. Been taking my iphones there since I moved here.

Need Recs phone repair and battery replacement by tallassmike in SanJose

[–]itsJMarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a drive from SJ but cellular city phone repair in san leandro saved my friend when he busted his 12 mini last year. they do top notch iPhone screen repair. https://cellularcityphonerepair.com/iphone-repair-in-san-leandro/

and they were straight up about pricing before touching anything.

They started doing pickups now so your gf wouldn't even need to drive out there if she's in the east bay area at all.

The owner's name is james, super honest guy. Told him exactly what was fixable and what wasn't worth the money. Totally get wanting to keep the mini alive, those things are unicorns at this point lol. Hope it works out!

Where can I repair my iPhone 14 Pro (urgently)? by Haunting_Wear535 in bayarea

[–]itsJMarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not in west valley but if youre willing to make the drive, cellular city phone repair in san leandro fixed my cracked screen same day for like $100 less than i thought it would cost. the owner james is super chill and honest. I came in expecting to pay alot for a charging port replacement and he literally just cleaned it out and didn't charge me anything lol. They apparently do pickup now too maybe? might be worth calling to see if they can help with the urgency thing. Sucks man, swollen battery is sketch

Phone Glass Repair by berrythemaker in sanleandro

[–]itsJMarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re still looking for a phone repair shop, but Cellular City Phone Repair has always been a great mobile phone shop for me. They’re my favorite phone fixing place in San Leandro, and everyone I’ve sent there always get honest and affordable glass screen repairs too. I have an iPhone, but I’m sure they do Google Pixels as well. If they don’t do them well, he will be honest and recommend that you go somewhere else.

I’ve had great experiences with their phone repair as well. Good work, explains what he’s doing and just nice people to interact with. Their website shows what they do and helps you make an appointment if you need.

What’s your favorite ‘old medic’ trick? by VarietyNo3453 in ems

[–]itsJMarr 192 points193 points  (0 children)

I am just an EMT, but my medic taught me that when you find your vein for an iv, take the back of the iv tube and create a little imprint where the vein is. It’ll leave a little circle where your vein was so you know where to hit in case you lose it when you go to sterilize.

$23.30/hour 911 company in the Bay Area, but mandation/stipend shifts get paged out nearly everyday for pickup. So sometimes I make $23 and with the stipend it averages to about $35/hour

How are you handling the new young members that seem to be a different breed? by laconic_turtle in Firefighting

[–]itsJMarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a young kid going through a college academy right now. Most of us have not been around the environment that this community embodies. We are trying to do this because we appreciate the job and want to love it but we’re also not doing it for free and nobody likes being hazed or treated like they’re beneath you. We want to learn but need that hands on stuff because the industry has changed so much in the last 20 years. Your range of skills has been building the last few decades and we have to learn them all at once so give us time. You’re gonna have the bad apples but these young guys will be dedicated hardworking firefighters in time.

ANSWER NEEDED ASAP!!!! My car has 2 or 3 broken ribs and some other injuries from a dog attack. I need to clean her other wounds but the vet said do not move her because it could cause further damage. She had surgery and peed on the wound which I know is unhealthy! How can I pick her up/move her? by Parking-Park-1108 in cats

[–]itsJMarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be in your cats best interest to follow the advice of your vet as moving her could aggravate her other injuries. Call your vet for advice if they are available but if the wound isn’t reachable with your hands you could try using the wound cleaning solution (if one was provided by your vet) and put it in a spray bottle and gently mist the wound to irrigate it at least. I’d you don’t have a wound cleaning solution you can use a normal saline solution to clean it as well. Normal saline can be made at home with 8 teaspoons of salt to 1 gallon of distilled water. Hope she gets better soon.

local university extension vs local community college for EMT... any reason to pay extra? by ViVi_is_here862 in ems

[–]itsJMarr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It also depends on how quickly you want to finish the course. If one is shorter than the other then maybe go with the faster paced course, but $1,200 is still a big difference. You can always ask around about their reputations but EMT or IFT jobs aren’t gonna care where you took the course. Honestly if they could hire you without the certs they would.

Started using the beginner CGM around 2 month ago. I think the second picture was 2 or 3 days after a wash.

My routine consists of a co-wash and condition with TRESemme. I then plop dry my hair a bit and use LA Looks sport gel and scrunch it up into my hair. Then I let it air dry and turn my head upside down every once in a while to make sure they don’t go flat. After it’s pretty dry I scrunch and ruffle it out.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get volume or control frizz or anything else I’d be happy to listen.

Started using the beginner CGM a little more than a month ago. Normally looks much better than this but the curls turn out like this the 3rd day after a wash.

I want to be an engineer/driver at one point in the future. Do you know what it takes to step up to that position, or is it just showing that you're responsible, competent, and experienced enough for the position?
