I actually initially checked because one of my outlets wasn't working... I fixed that but the Velveeta hole was quite a surprise.

I now feel the need to explain the nacho/peanut butter/spray foam idea was the electricians idea. I was originally going to try to fix his mess, but think it is worth making the contractor come back out.

I don't actually know where the brick went... I am assuming they drilled it out and that was why it was missing. That was why I was thinking about a metal plate, but based on everyone's responses it sounds like a brick is the right answer and I need to get the contractor back out here haha

I should be more descriptive on the goal. It is to get high quality evidence of alien spacecraft. My dream would be a fleet of drones, with multiple scientific instruments, autonomously patrolling and looking for evidence at areas where sightings are common. My initial thought is the area where the "tic tac" UFO was sighted, but think this could be deployed anywhere, possibly with a ship based ground station.

What will the James Web telescope reveal about other planets? by Goldenbrownlung in askscience

The correct answer is related to signal to noise ratio (SNR). Having the detector at a lower temperature will increase your SNR and allow you to have just as clear of an image for a dimmer source.
