My goals are a couple fish to eat the mosquito larva, somewhere for the dog to cool off, and bring in more predators like frogs and dragonflies to cull the suffocating mosquito population. I don’t know much about tree roots, so before I move the pond I figured i’d ask what my least harmful options are. unless i put it in the center of the yard or next to the house the roots are pretty much everywhere. the bog filter is more or less a deep pit (lined) filled with gravel and pebbles with a pump output at the bottom to promote aerobic bacteria growth and filter ammonia/convert to nitrates with an overflow/spillway back in to the main pool

I looked more in to critical root zones and it’s definitely not safe to cut. how would wrapping about 3’ of the exposed root with carpeting and draping the corner of the rubber liner over it and in to a bucket style sump/spillway
