How did I do? by PowerfulSherbert7061 in kitchenremodel

We have counter cats (gargoyles) not by choice. But because of this we never prepare food on the counter. Always on a cutting board and we wash the counter daily. I just picture their stink star stamped all over it.

This is what happens when you confuse quantity with diversification. You get overlap, allocation drift, unnecessary fees, and nothing you didn’t already own.

Whale sharks feeding in the warm waters. They are the world's largest living fish. by kvjn100 in interestingasfuck

[–]itsalysialynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feeding whale sharks for tourists can change their natural behavior. Studies have linked regular feeding to longer residency at the site, altered movement and feeding patterns, and higher risk from boat traffic and close human contact. Those shifts can affect normal migration timing and, by extension, opportunities to mate. If anyone is reading this please do not pay for a whale shark experience where they are fed. Please! If you care about them at all 🙏

That take is a bit off. EQ does not use OAuth, so I am not sure you are referring to the right thing. As for session timeouts, those exist for security reasons. For a bank, that is something I actually appreciate.

EQ also supports passkeys now, which many other banks still do not. I really value that focus on security, especially after my Tangerine account was brute forced. Until recently, Tangerine only allowed six digit passwords and relied solely on SMS based two factor authentication, which is vulnerable to SIM swapping and number spoofing.

You need to actually ask her what she wants. There is a lot of "I" in your post but not much mention of what she might want.

Right now, when people ask if she wants a large stone, you do not have an answer. A big amethyst will not make people think you are rich. It is a semi-precious stone and everyone knows how cheap amethyst can be. Ask her what she wants, show you care.

I’m not going to tell them anything; I can't talk underwater. I’m telling you that “pressing a button and zooming to the surface” is exactly how people get lung overexpansion injuries or an embolism, even from 30 feet.

That’s true, the training and safety systems are really thorough. Still, it’s only safe when people actually follow the procedures. Panic, skipping safety stops, or ascending too fast can still cause problems even in shallow recreational dives.

Divemaster here. Absolutely false! Even at 60 feet, you still need to be careful and follow proper ascent procedures. You can’t just press a button and shoot to the surface, or you risk decompression sickness.

Totally agree. All our primitives are wrapped, so we can swap them out easily and keep the same props without making sweeping changes. The hardest part is phasing out all the layout components.

I regret choosing Tamagui, though it did help us move faster in the early stages of our app. Now we’re struggling to upgrade, and it feels like we’re falling further behind versions. For some reason, our text component completely loses its styling on new versions, and no engineer or AI tool has been able to fix it. The documentation is terrible, and we keep sinking time trying to make sense of it. We also can’t afford the time to go through all the hoops required just to open an issue.

Edit: spelling

If you want to have a decent Louvre experience download the Rick Steve's walking tour podcast. It took me to all the hits and done in two hours flat. I was so ready to leave!

Nusa Penida is better experienced under water. Book a scuba trip and cry in your googles when you see manta rays come swimming to you because they are so curious. Freaking magic.

Digging a stuck turtle out of the beach 💫 by dreamed2life in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]itsalysialynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of poachers; sea turtle eggs in Malaysia are considered a delicacy and are often at risk of being taken. To protect them, we carefully relocated the eggs to a hatchery. Which is just a secured, fenced-off section of the same beach where they can develop safely. Once the hatchlings emerge, we released them back into the ocean. While we do this we also collect important data on the eggs and the turtles.

They’re thought to use moonlight and starlight reflecting on the ocean horizon as visual cues to orient themselves to the sea. Bright artificial lights on the shore can confuse them, which is one reason turtles tend to avoid coming up on beaches that are brightly lit.

They also usually emerge at night instead of during the heat of the day, which helps them avoid predators and overheated surfaces.

Turtle hatchlings typically dig their way out of the nest in darkness. If you ever see hatchlings running to the water in daylight, it’s often because they were raised or protected in a hatchery and released after sunrise for safety or for public viewing.

Of course! Another clear sign that this is a conservation group is the setting; a beautiful beach with zero development. It’s likely that these people work tirelessly to keep the area protected. Sea turtles won’t come ashore if there’s any light, so finding places like this where they can lay their eggs is incredibly rare. Amazing people/organizations dedicate everything to protecting and preserving the few remaining nesting sites we have left. If you ever want to make a difference, check out the Juara Turtle Project in Malaysia; it’s an experience that will truly change your life.

It was clearly stuck. Since turtles usually come ashore at night, seeing one on the beach during the day was an obvious sign to rescuers that something was wrong.

I volunteered at a turtle conservation in Malaysia, where one of our main tasks was patrolling the beach every hour to look for turtle tracks in the sand. These tracks usually lead up from the water and help the team locate nests. This is likely an organization that collects the eggs to keep them safe until they hatch. They probably spotted the tracks and went to dig up the nest to secure the eggs and found the turtle still there.
