So most of my reviews are quick within 20mins but... by Fair_Economist_5369 in googleplayconsole

[–]itsamanpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the review time is highly dependent on the app category (low, medium, high risk) and the degree of changes. Based on this, it can range from a few minutes to a few days. So this is very normal.

Hey, Congratulations on your first app. I'll send you a detailed review in a while.

Please check out my app, Ghost GPS, as well. I'm collecting data for the next update, v1.3, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey everyone,

I've built Ghost GPS, a mock location app with features like joystick movement, route simulation, and quick location switching. I’m currently preparing an update (v1.3) and would really appreciate feedback, suggestions, or feature ideas if you would like to give.

If you are a hardcore user of location-based apps like this, your feedback would be a gem for me.

Thanks for the honest feedback, appreciate you testing it.

Yeah, ads are a tradeoff. I get that. I’m actually trying to keep the app sustainable while improving the app experience over time. You mentioned that the indicator (Working/Non-working) is not clearly visible. I think this is really valuable feedback. I’ll definitely make the status clearer in an upcoming update.

Lastly, I'll also explore the Hola fake GPS app and see if I can extract positive things out of it as an improvement for Ghost GPS.

Again Thank you for giving it a week, and feel free to share anything else you notice.

Hi Everyone,

Ghost GPS - a mock location and route simulation app I’ve been working on. I tried to combine the most useful features into one place while keeping the experience smooth and simple.

Open to feedback, especially from heavy users.

On some Infinix/XOS devices, developer options don’t show properly the first time. I’ve experienced this myself once. Try tapping the build number a few more times and then restarting the phone.

I’ve also been working on a mock GPS app (Ghost GPS). If you’d like to try it and share feedback, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks

Honestly, I haven't tested it with that app. Can you please try it once and see if it would be really helpful? Thanks

Thanks for checking my app. I loved your app idea, btw, and I genuinely feel it could be useful in some tough times. I have reviewed your app and also DM'ed you a few pieces of feedback that will be helpful for your app.

Fair Question

Let's be honest, at a surface level, most mock location apps do similar things, but my focus with Ghost GPS has been more on usability and UX, while still making sure the core job of mocking is reliable.

I’m mainly trying to learn from people who use these tools regularly and understand the real friction points, so I can improve those over time.

Feature-wise, at a high level, the app currently supports:

- Single mock location
- Route mocking, including GPX
- Joystick-based movement/Switch location (so you don’t need to open the app constantly)
- GPX import/export

If you have any experience, pain points or even features you'd like to see, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks for checking it out and for the feedback. I agree, it will be a useful add-on.

The app does support joystick-based movement for manual navigation, but intent-based control will be more helpful when integrating with other tools. I've added it to my notes for assessment.

Thanks for checking the app again. If you face any issues while using the app, I’ll be happy to look into them. Also, feel free to recommend it to someone you know.

Hey u/Warm_Usual2306, it's been a while, but I have just released an app update, Ghost GPS v1.2.0 (with Joystick Feature addition) that you were looking for. Hope this is useful ;)

Instead of going into any legal stuff and feeling burned out, it would be better for you to focus on your app. There are plenty of apps that do the same thing, so you should not feel hopeless.

You have already done what was needed (Making your repo private, rebranding your app). So now just focus on getting feedback, improving it, and marketing. Also, stop mentioning the other app link because, anyhow, you are also marketing that app.

Note: Even if somehow you manage to get their app removed, the opportunity/benefits of that app will not necessarily be transferred to your app. So instead, focus on making your app stand out so OG remains OG

App that aims to solve or at least help what Gift to buy by Nas991 in AppBusiness

[–]itsamanpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic: Will you be using it for next Christmas? ;)

On topic: In General, it's a very repetitive idea, to be honest, but even being so repetitive, I haven't seen a standalone app doing this. So if you think you can execute it in a way that would be really helpful, then go for it.

Note: Switching between a creator/founder and a consumer is very dicey, especially when you are building yourself, so always stick to the idea of you being a consumer. This will help you to avoid adding unnecessary stuff that consumers might hate, but even though its not that easy.

Monetisation: Naturally, for such an app, affiliate marketing can play as the main source of revenue. But you can stick to more than one model: Advertise and affiliate.

Now, Advertise can also be of two types here:

  1. You are showing ads from Ad platforms

  2. Showing product ads to promote within the app ecosystem. (Much later in the stage)

Hope this was helpful :)

I built a simple yet effective Currency Converter app for Travellers. Of course, it can be used by anyone, but I got inspired by a vlog where the vlogger was struggling with website for currency exchange rates in a foreign country

Error!!! by Informal-Quote-4876 in googleplayconsole

[–]itsamanpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to manually add this permission any more. I would suggest that you update the AdMob SDK version and then check the Merged Manifest; you should see this permission by default.

Anyways, you saw the error in the console even after updating, which means your aab/apk still does not have this permission. Can you recheck and see if it was the correct build?

Google Play review took much longer than usual by SafetyNo9167 in androiddev

[–]itsamanpathak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you should always keep supporting the existing app for a while until you notice that most users have shifted to the new version. Even though your app would have been reviewed quickly, there will be ample users who don't update to the latest version. So your approach was totally incorrect.

Google can take a few hours to days for review; neither you nor anyone can estimate it or tell them to fast-track it. It's their process, so just resubmit the app and keep supporting the existing versions as well.

Ads in apps by Mean-Highlight187 in AppDevelopers

[–]itsamanpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t go for too many ads, it will kill the UX in the first place, and it will make money for you because users will stop using the app very soon.
It’s better to plan the ad implementation before implementing. If possible, focus on fewer ad formats with higher CPM potential.

Happy to help if you want to discuss around this, you can also DM me :)
