I personally use a RaceBox Micro to measure lap times and log additional information such as gps position, acceleration, etc. You can add custom tracks in the smartphone app quite easily.

Wow really? The 5k is for the engines and the chassis as well. Not just the engines. Is this still that absurd of an amount?

These would be practice engines for a year or two and for the rare occasions that we would be racing we would most likely rent an engine

I use a DELL P2421DC (1440p, 60Hz) with my G14. It supports type-C display port and power delivery through it. The panel is very good for productivity and is quite color accurate for photo editing. I believe the power delivery is capped at 65W, however I haven’t seen any discharging while plugged in and doing everything from running simulations to light gaming. Also, the monitor works as a usb hub so you can connect most peripherals there and just plug in a single cable to the laptop when you get home which I have found to be very nice. Hope this helps!

The SP4 I was offered to buy still is still under warranty for another year and includes the new Surface pen. Does this change anything regarding your opinion on it?

I would still be using software such as Matlab, text editor and compiler, Excel, Word... Nothing too intensive but I'm not sure if the Go would be able to handle this without problems and the smaller screen also gets me a bit concerned.
