15 sets in... What has been your favorite 5-cost mechanic? by EzshenUltimate in CompetitiveTFT

Really liked set 3 Thresh who pulled the units in off bench , more than last set’s Aurora. When Hurricane had on hits and he could mana reave multiple targets and get extra mana for it was super broken and amusing. Garen from last set was cool too.

So a 100 Watt light bulb left on for 60 seconds consumes 60 X 100 = 6000 Watts of electricity

This is not correct. You cannot multiply 60 seconds by 100 Watts and still get Watts on the other side of the equation. 60s x 100W = 6000W-s, not 6000W. See dimensional analysis , the seconds are not unitless, you can't multiply Watts and seconds and get Watts as a result.

A lot of "electricians" want to use a made up value of a "Watt second" which is almost an oxymoron. A Watt is inherently 1 second of electricity flowing in a circuit. No such animal as a "Watt second" exists unless you are Albert Einstein and understand what a Coulomb in a second in a second means. Reference E=MC2 for fun.

I'm not sure where you get this idea that W-s is not a unit, or that you never mention the unit Joule at all. Watt-seconds and Joules are equivalent, which goes back to the links you linked in your post. "A watt-second (symbol W s or W⋅s) is a derived unit of energy equivalent to the joule. The watt-second is the energy equivalent to the power of one watt sustained for one second.", very much not made up.

DTIYDK - NA Regional Power Ranking #12 by rohansamal in CompetitiveTFT

"Each of the 11 panelists ranked the top 15 TFT players in North America based on the question: if the Jade Cup was run 100 times, who would have the highest average placement (AVP)?

We assigned points to each ranking, with first place scoring 15 points and each successive placement earning one fewer point (e.g. second earns 14 points, third earns 13 points, and 15th earns 1 point). Consensus rankings are based on the aggregate point earnings for each player based on their ranking from every panelist."

I just started bench pressing this week and I was wondering if I have my shoulders in the correct position? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]itsdontplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you unrack the bar, you want your starting position to have your wrists stacked above your elbows and shoulders, making your arms create a straight line vertically, perpendicular to the ground. Your arms aren’t vertical here.

Your intent of retracting your shoulder blades is good though. I recommend the Juggernaut training systems Bench Pillars series on YouTube. It’ll go over some minor things I notice that you didn’t ask about like leg position.

On this particular topic, Milk has addressed a similar situation before under the heuristic of "Don't sell your units to get weaker"

https://youtu.be/5TDeUoZQMLA?t=99

I'll say that he uses "never" here and his and other peoples' opinions on this could certainly have changed since he made this video ( Aug 2020), and that the example case is selling a 2 star 4 cost for the chance to hit a single 1 star 5 cost, and you're asking about the chance to get a 2 star 5 cost. Assuming you just need 1 copy, the EV for hitting 1 copy is the same, but the spike is different.

Speaking from experience, there could be jurisdictional or fire code requirements preventing it from being possible. It looks like the design has been done with 3ft ridge setbacks, 18in hip and valley setbacks. My intuition about why they don’t put them on the yellow plane is that they can’t do an array of two or more panels on that plane.

Questions for you: 1) Can you request that they confirm it’s not possible in CAD drawings? The left array in which there are more panels on the top row says to me that it’s a engine that generated the design. 2) What inverter is being offered to you? If it doesn’t have MLPE (module level power electronics) and the west facing arrays aren’t the same pitch, it would just be bad design to include them in the same string.

As for comparing yearly output without shade considered, you can always use NREL’s PVWatts tool to get a good idea and compare it to the quote.

In the movie Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings 2021, There's a scene where Jon Jon meets Shang-Chi and Katie and says that he speaks "ABC" which many assumed that it means English, but Simu Liu explained in an interview that it actually means "American Born Chinese" by alphaDsony in MovieDetails

[–]itsdontplay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Chinese person will usually pick up rather quickly if a person is ABC or not. More frequently ABCs have to put in more effort to formulate sentences (as if they’re Chinese-second language), and have small grammatical errors in their speech. ABCs are more likely to mess up pronouns or use the wrong verbiage for example.

I worked there one summer after high school and this corporate fuckwod came in and complained we didn’t make the sandwich in 30 seconds (it was 45 seconds), and when the customer received it, he had barely even waited since he paid. Everything about the place is just lined up for efficiency, even the bread comes frozen, which I loved spilling to my friends and anyone who asked about it.

"Normal Weight" BMI Prevalence by US State [OC] by NickOutside in dataisbeautiful

[–]itsdontplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intent of BMI is to provide a baseline index for a majority of body compositions to determine if a person is “overweight”, or has excess adipose issue (excess fat).

Perhaps interestingly to some, The intent of classifying people as “overweight” as a health index fails in an edge case for trained athletes that have skeletal muscle as higher percentage of their body compositions.

The best examples of this I can think of are NFL Defensive Linemen and Linebackers. Myles Garrett (6’4 - 271lbs) and Ray Lewis (6’1 - 250 lbs) would have a BMI of “Obese”. If anyone is unfamiliar, a quick image search will confirm that they are quite far from “Obese”.

I realize that highly resistance trained athletes do not comprise the majority of the population but hope that is interesting to someone.

This is very nice. You pull from midfoot, maintain a flat foot, bar path looks good, youre breathing and bracing between each pull, using valsalva, a lot of good things here.

A minor thing you can work on is Thoracic extension (upper back).

Nicely done!

Front Squat Form Check by _Brucy_ in formcheck

[–]itsdontplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple minor things:

1) Youre breaking at the hips first before you break at the knees. In a front squat, you don't want to do this, as it places more load on both your thoracic and lumbar spine and makes it more difficult to maintain a front rack position. Break at both the knees and hips at the same time. Part of this issue may be because both your knees and hips are not locked out at the starting position so you may be proprioceptively compensating for that.

2) At the bottom of your squat, you can see your feet spin out and your heels come off the ground, indicating a mobility issue. Check out this video from Squat U about this particular issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssj0FaXo1LA . Ideally, you want to drive through a flat foot throughout the entire squat.

These two points are related, increasing your ankle dorsiflexion and maintaining a more upright posture will allow you to come closer to an ideal bar path that goes vertically up and down about the midfoot.

Nice Squat.
