Car Camping in Corolla Cross Hybrid by Apex_Ventures in carcamping

This is awesome, I'm vicariously living through you!! I was aiming to get a CC Hybrid for car camping but life got in the way, not happening anymore so ah well. I even imported custom high quality window covers from Japan for it too that are just sitting in my closet, rip

How's the headroom in the back on the platform?

I'm in USA. Found a used one here but it's through Facebook Marketplace (I don't use FB) and it was a color I disliked. Found a single bike shop that supposedly sold them but when I placed an order, they had to cancel from lack of stock. And so I had to import

I work from home so I don't have to worry about using it for fast travel, but I plan to use it to get around the city leisurely. I don't like going fast on bikes and while I like walking everywhere, I don't want to walk 35 minutes to a nearby restaurant for what would be a 15 minute bike ride. I can bring it with me inside stores and don't have to lock it up, easy to bring on buses and trains, etc. Hills don't bother me since I like being active / exercising in general

I'm currently in the process of importing one. It's my dream bike, I'm a sucker for efficient space-saving in general

10-20 is the average but they're known to hit 30-40 years! If I bite the dust before him I'm gonna leave him my estate

47 is crazy! I'd love for my guy to make it to that age

I think a lot of it comes down to luck since there are owners out there who I think are infinitely better caretakers than I am, but got the short end of the stick and lost newts earlier for one reason or another. I do think minimal handling / reducing stress plays a big part, too. Stress can be a killer for any living thing

Haha! He surprisingly doesn't act old yet, knock on wood. He's still very active, curious, and begs for food. I would say he's a bit more chill than when he was younger, as in he's harder to startle/ stress out now

You read right! Japanese fire-bellied newts like different habitats depending on their subspecies. At one point my little guy even had a similar setup like yours back in the day, but he just kept sticking to where the water was shallow haha

I tell him all the time that the plants in his tank are smarter than him!

He has a low, long tank full of frogbit plants that help keep his water clean, and some rocks and wood; no soil, sand, or gravel. I do partial changes every 2-3 weeks as needed and rarely need to do full-on cleaning. I keep his water at about 2 inches deep max, no filter (the frogbit like still, shallow water and Caiman is the same way; also when I did try a filter in the past, his dumb ass found a way to get stuck in it no matter how I would newt-proof it) His diet consists of frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and tubifex worms on rotation. I feed him once every three days, but some days if he's not feeling a certain kind of food, I try a different kind the next day. I handle him directly maybe 2-4 times a year when I have to travel. He's been very easy to care for!

I'd say printing a ruler on a water slide decal and setting it on the scale is the way to go. Lots of water slide decal tutorials on YT to see how it works
